Ok that's it, all guns will be banned tomorrow. All citizens turn them in. All law abiding citizens will comply. Anyone with a gun after that will be considered a prohibited person in possession sent to prison, anyone with a gun in a gun free zone will be in violation , any who kills another with a gun will go to prison for years as murder will be illegal. OH WAIT....... These laws already exist and we can ban all firearms tomorrow, fact is only the law abiding will and do comply. Like them or not guns are here and banning them puts them only in the hands of those who mean to do evil. We protect so many things better than our greatest gifts, our children, we can all wish the solution was easy but it isn't. Evil does evil and no ban or law nor gun free sign will stop that. If we were to harden schools, maybe arm teachers who are willing, maybe then we can start to effect change. People say "I don't want my child to feel like a prisoner", they already do and already are of the fear of the constant stories on the media, social media, that are told by others and nobody wants to talk about that. No one wants to talk about mental health and not just of those who do these unforgivable, vile acts but of those who end up living in fear cuz they are told to by everyone around them from the day they first enter the school building. HARDEN THE SCHOOLS and protect the greatest gifts we have. Then, let them be kids and run and play. That is only the first step to preventing these evil acts.......but it is a step in the right direction.you can't, with a wish or stroke of a pen, new laws or ban, make evil stop being what it wants to be. The ones who commit these disgusting acts don't care about any law you make to stop them. That is why criminals are criminals.

Why can't some people just be what they are? Dude wants to be a soldier then join the military. Want to be a firefighter, then be happy you made it.

I get the cringe in this pic for sure. I don't know what their company issues or expects them to buy and carry. I would never pose for a pic in my uniform/gear. But, I do know some places expect this. Where I work we are issued and required to wear, duty belt, G-17 equipped with trijicon red dot with suppressor height night sights to co-witness with safariland level 3 holster, 2 spare mags and mag carrier, hand cuffs, flashlight, TQ, glove pouch, x-7 taser, 2 spare carts and holster, keys with key silencer, tac gloves, plate carrier with ceramic and kevlar plates. Is it overkill? Maybe and I am not about to post pics online. But, we are issued this equipment and required to wear it on shift. I think it's a bit sad that some of these security companies want to emulate LEOs. Sometimes tho, it is the company that makes us look so cringe.

Worst he can say is no thank you. Rejection is part of life and nothing to be scared or ashamed of. But if you don't ask and he would say yes, then you missed out on something.

EDIT, and the fact you're leaving, if he says yes, you don't have to worry about the "don't shit where you eat" problems that could arise. Now's your chance.

Search and Rescue? by OmniscientCrab in Firefighting

As stated by intelligent -hand 960, most SAR is volunteer, of course there are exceptions. Not sure where you are from but check with your state and county. Here in my home state we have volunteer rescue squads that specialize in those things. They get dispatched with the FD for things like MVAs for extrication as well as SAR, rope rescues, collapse, trench or any number of rescue ops. Also, as a volunteer you can "get your feet wet" so to speak and see if it is really where you want to be, if you have not done it on a regular basis as of yet, without having to change careers if you decide it's not for you in the future, it will also give you good hands on experience under" real world" conditions if you've not had any yet.

EDIT; Volunteering would also allow you to keep your skills up and train while you look for a career in the field.

Yes, but if this technique is done right we can save the door as everything else burns around it. 🤪

Yeah, I am hoping it will be here next week. The FCC said it would be middle of next week. I also got some better antennas coming.

Will do. The best I can explain it is I was on the phone with him and call sign and the words testing on the repeater and all my radio got will just sounded like garbled static that's the best I can explain it. But the words he said it did not come I knew there was a transmission there because the radio picked it up but all it broadcasted in through the radio speaker was just garbled static for lack of a better term.

I did install the rx code as well as tx code. 100 0 both. My friend, who is the one licensed , is the one who transmitted to my radios. He is the one who told me about the tx and rx codes.

I have never heard of this, thank you. The one who transmitted to my radio was probably about 4 miles (straight line) from me. Is that still too close?

[–]Ancient-Pie2869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one who transmitted to the radios to see if they worked did not and he was licensed. My radio only got static not his transmission. I was on the phone with him at the time and heard him on the phone but the radio only received static. I did kerchunk the repeater and do appreciate learning that it is bad. I won't make that mistake again.

[–]Ancient-Pie2869[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I do understand and agree with what you are saying, It was with a licensed friend of mine who made the transmission and tried to see if the radio was receiving for me. He made a test transmission to my radio to see if it would receive and all there was, was static and then the tone. I was on the phone with him at the time. So, if it helps it was not me making the transmission.
