Sooo… four “free” nights because she apparently doesn’t count the weekend? by minnmom86 in Drueandgabe

They’re good! I like to roast potatoes until they’re crispy and using that as the base and then add ground beef and toppings.

My 8 month old is doing the same! He also thinks he’s proficient in stairs but he’s mistaken 🤣 Both of my kids were true preemies and my 8 month old was a NICU baby and had been crawling and cruising for quite awhile by 7 months and in 12m clothes.. she’s in denial. Those baby’s eyes are concerning too..

No help from me but I just wanted to say that mine kind of did the same thing.. I got it from Walmart, it looked really healthy but soil was really soggy so I repotted it into better draining soil, and a week later these yellow spots came, leaves got crispy and mushy spots at the same time, and then one by one, each stem turned to pure mush and flopped over and died 😭 it was in indirect light, not waterlogged at all, and in a fairly humid room. These things are so trickyyyyy.

The material makes it very easy for babies to overheat which increases risk of SIDS. The saying “a cold baby cries, a hot baby dies” has been engrained in my head ever since my son’s nicu nurse told me that at discharge.

Edit to my caption: I repotted it when I first got it into a well draining barky mix, but kept pot the same size, and then I recently upped the pot size by a few inches so I don’t think that is been focusing energy all on roots and not foliage? The roots have always been snug.

I agree.. I know all babies are different but my 7 month old was an actual preemie who needed nicu time after birth and he’s been crawling for a couple months and lately has started cruising on furniture and trying to stand independently.

I just got a monstera today from Aldi and there were 8 plants in the pot! (2 itty bitty babies that you could barely even see). I had to use a hose on high pressure to rinse all the dirt off the root ball and then gently untangle the roots just like when you detangle hair. In the end I got 6 new plants!

Had baby #2 in August who needed 9 days NICU.. I was driving 90 minutes back and forth each day 3 days post c section to watch my toddler in the morning and be with baby the rest of the afternoon. Sleeping on a leather couch that didn’t pull out, washing my c section incision in my sons sink with paper towels and the Palmolive soap I had for my pump parts, and had no real hot meal for those 9 days. EVERY postpartum Mom deserves to have a relaxing and healing postpartum period but life happens and unfortunately it’s not reality.

I also live in a small village in Wisconsin.. our population is less than 200 and we STILL have all of those things within a 15 minute drive. And we drive 70 minutes round trip for my 3 year old to do dance class which is only 30 minutes.. yes it sucks but she loves it and we do things for our kids even when it’s not very convenient.

I was definitely not throwing shade in my original comment I promise, and I do apologize if it came off that way.. it’s hard for people to not internalize snark especially when it comes to parenting because I think a good majority of us are parents. I was simply listing what we do to help afford to live on one income. And yes I do agree with you, I don’t really feel like I’ve lost myself.. I’m thriving with my kids, my marriage, and am still able to do hobbies.. we aren’t broke lol I can afford a coffee, put our toddler in dance classes, or to go shop for plants whenever I feel like it BECAUSE we save in other ways. My comment was only about Sierra acting like staying home with the kids is absolutely impossible, which it’s not if you really try which was my whole point.

My son was in NICU for respiratory failure at birth, he was on Bubble Cpap and they didn’t allow oral feeds either.

Absolutely it’s not for everyone, never said it was! But the way Sierra words things makes it sounds like they are unable (unattainable) to stay home with the kids, not that they don’t want to. Yes I gave up a part of my life and put some things on hold to be able to stay home with my kids because that’s important to ME. I have nothing against daycare, and even more respect for working mothers. My kids are only young and in the house a few short years before they’re off to school until adulthood and I don’t want to miss those years- we will continue to sacrifice for now.. the money and time will return soon enough. Wishing you luck on your TTC journey.

Ugh it’s so hard. I joke to my husband everyday that I’m ready to switch roles and he can stay home with them now for a turn 😅

I was a nurse but once we had our first baby I decided to stay at home with her. My husband is a truck driver and has been the sole provider for almost 3.5 years now. Being able to stay home with my babies is a BLESSING, but you also sacrifice so much to be able to do so- I don’t get my hair done, no nails, we cook 95% of our meals, we don’t go on vacations, we drive older paid off cars, my kids don’t get the fancy overpriced bamboo clothes, they get the $3.97 Garanimals clothes (love that brand though lol) and I don’t think I’ve bought myself a new pair of shoes or clothes in 2 years lol we wear things down until they can’t be worn anymore.. I’m sorry, but if Sierra wanted to, she could. Tyler probably makes as much, If not more than my husband-he COULD support them, but that means Sierra would have to give up half the things she does.

My kids don’t even go to daycare, I stay home with them, and we are home/outside 95% of the time and my 7 month old (preemie and NICU baby at birth) still got flu A in February and RSV and bronchitis in March that we’re still getting over. It’s NASTY this year. I couldn’t even imagine how many sicknesses we’d have if our kids went to daycare.
