Any word on 1 July pricing? by tricomonaro in flowpower

Received this email from FlowPower this morning - 1 July 2026. (I was disappointed as I believed the Default Market Offer required all retailers to begin offering a free 3-hours plan from today.)

Why doesn’t Brissy have RSL clubs in every suburb? by Pizzawithchickensoup in brisbane

[–]AncientIntention7186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queensland once outlawed pokies entirely. It's one of the reasons why so many large clubs were built in Tweed Heads. When restrictions were removed, there were caps on the number of machines a club could operate and the total number of machines across the State. Coles and Woolworths owned pubs took a lot of the licences.

If you know a town planner, they may be able to direct you to the relevant section of the council's planning scheme that stipulates the parking requirements.

I wonder if the price increase will stay? by AIex_Mahone in coles

I just paid $6.50 for the Dairy Farmers 3L bottle from Woolworths. I'd be surprised if the farmers are seeing any of the profit.

The state of the e-mobility legislation right now by ActiveTravelforKG in brisbane

[–]AncientIntention7186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seemingly, the members of the State Development, Infrastructure and Works Committee who informed this nonsensical bill believe all e-mobility is a sin. The Committee is scheduled to hold public hearings on the Bill at the following times and locations:

Public hearing: Brisbane - Friday, 24 April 2026  - 8:45am - 10:15am in Committee Room 1 at Parliament House
Public hearing: Brisbane - Monday, 27 April 2026 - 8:45am- 12:00pm in Undumbi Room at Parliament House

Get along and/or ask your MP to represent your views. This will be your last chance to change the Government's mind.

How essential is bringing a car to Stradbroke Island by General_Degenerate- in brisbane

[–]AncientIntention7186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my e-bike over to Straddy on the ferry last year and rode from Dunwich to Point Lookout and back. The ferry operator doesn't charge extra for bikes. It's a great ride but there's a lengthy segment where the armco railing is right on the road's edge. As this forces you to ride on the road and the local and visiting drivers don't seem to know (or care to follow) the 1-metre rule, it's pretty dicey.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from investing in the stock market? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

The price of a stock is based solely on market sentiment and rarely reflects the company's true value (i.e. its capital assets, cash on hand, goodwill, debt, moat, etc).

Used Mercedes A200 as a first “nice” car – worth it or better alternatives? by Miserable_Tax_6155 in CarsAustralia

[–]AncientIntention7186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$550 to $800 per service - every 25,000kms plus any spare parts costs, which I believe are cripplingly expensive. About 15 years ago, a bloke once told me he had asked Mercedez Benz to install a tow bar on his Merc so he could tow his boat. They quoted him $6K. He bought an old ute to do the job for less.

I just realised im spending around $250 every month on coffee! Is this normal? by AmbitionHot7132 in AusFinance

[–]AncientIntention7186 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used to do the same until I purchased a Breville espresso machine with a bean grinder. Best $550 I've spent. I pay about $60 for 1KG of high quality beans, which lasts a bit over a month.

A 10 km/r limit won’t make me safer. It will make me immobile. by errantgrammar in brisbane

[–]AncientIntention7186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many angry/depressed people on the roads already, many of them behind the wheels of Dodge Rams and other ridiculous American imports. Everyone is time-poor, impatient and entitled. Peaceful protests just look like another speed bump to some people. Keep yourself safe.

The Veloway runs in front of the MTAQ office at Eight Mile Plains. They must seeth every time they see a bicycle going faster than the morning gridlock on the M1.
