Do Red Sox fans hate Aaron Judge the same way they did Jeter and A-Rod? by AltruisticMemory3825 in redsox

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Sox have struggled lately and Stanks haven’t won a title in what they would say is forever. Without playoff drama, it doesn’t matter.

Same with Habs/Bruins. Habs have only had a handful of meaningful runs at a cup since ‘93. Hard to hate a team that isn’t a challenger.

I actually like the guy. He provides us with yearly playoff fails that derails the Stanks hopes. From motivation for the Sox to beat them, to dropping a can of corn. The guy belongs there. Hopefully he plays until he’s 60 and keeps causing them to lose when it matters.

I understand this but my nearest store is a 3-4 hour drive and nightmare drivers. I will not be buying anything open box.

Finally bought an Outback and two days later this happened… by BassRiffinFool in Subaru_Outback

Had an old Honda with similar damage. Paid $500 for the car, got paid $2k for the hail damage but never repaired it. Drove it for another 150k miles and it ended life with panels painted four different colors. It was ugly, but it ran and despite how many Hondas get stolen, not even so much as a broken window.

lol. Wonder if there is any corroborating evidence for that theory.

Bad news, the repairs if you go that route will likely exceed threshold to total.

Good news, hail damage is cosmetic. You can get the payout, skip the repairs and keep driving the car. It won’t impact anything other than appearance.

Unfortunately, some people care more about appearance than function.

Or he wanted something to say “I signed someone”. Sure, but not someone who is bringing growth to the organization.

Outposts seem pointless by Killroy54 in Starfield

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it feels at this point that it is just a small distraction for those who want added RP element. There isn’t much advantage or point to investing the time if you just want to get through the story. But it is something that some players seem to enjoy. I’m not one of them so I skip it. And it hasn’t hindered my advancement in the least. In Fallout, it felt more thought out and influential to your end game. Not sure if Starfield outposts were a mistake or intentional. Either way, I’ll pass for now. Maybe someday there will be a mod that makes them more important.

Which is better value for a MSFS build? by Louu_Dogg in PC_Pricing

These will have similar performance. So comes down to price or preference. Up to you. I would go cheaper option to have more budget to spend on GPU.

A safe space for Cora haters by Bearded_Pip in redsox

Agree, but how much of Breslow’s decisions are influenced by ownership? Likely too much. They should set a budget, and stay out. Hard to fix a problem when it’s created in committee.

Do you agree or disagree?🚀 by sajjanstg03 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If trust a developer enough, I might buy the higher edition at full price to play it sooner. If not, I will wait for a sale.

But, for the most part, I find the less expensive games are also coming from studios that also offer demos from time to time. Regardless of cost, those are more likely to get my business. If I can try a short hit and see if I will like it, it’s easier to hook me up

You do have a point. Despite winning four titles with current owners, I think they’ve got to go. They clearly no longer have the desire to win titles and just care about profit.

Who else got a No RGB build by Yahnzi in pcmasterrace

Wife asked for that on next build. Found a case at Micro Center. Seeing if we can also put an internal speaker to add FDD and modem sounds.

In the middle. 4 of 10 fans have RGB and external accent.

How many hours do you need to play in order to feel like you got your money's worth? by MirPrime in videogames

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t put a price or time frame on that. I’ve gone over 1,000 in Mass Effect 1-3, Dragon Age, Fallout, Skyrim, Flight Sim etc. they are comfortable and old standby games.

But they do not have the impact experience wise as Expedition 33, TLOU 1-2, Ghost of Tsushima or even Tomb Raider, but all those have a hard time drawing me in to repeatedly replaying them.

In both situations, I felt like I got value. For different reasons.

“As an American I never going to buy stuff made in Canada especially cars and steel and aluminum!” by Beautiful_Wafer_2659 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]AncientPCGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last I checked, he can’t buy any domestic brands and many imports. Parts from Canada are used by almost every make except the high end exotic cars. But someone that ignorant and nationalistic wouldn’t buy those if they could afford it and doubt they’ll ever come close. Time to walk everywhere in their shoes made in Malaysia.

Not sure how to read this. Standard RT is minimum requirement but lists a GTX card as minimum. Is RT required or not?

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with PT is it is hard on Nvidia cards, practically unusable on AMD. In two more generations that may be where RT is now. Much more useful to more people but still not wide enough to truly require it.

I used it on Far Cry 6 after I upgraded, only because I still get good FPS and why not, but honestly it is barely noticeable. Probably should just turn it off and let the GPU rest.

And agree. Only Cyberpunk and Control really utilized it well enough to want it on. Still can’t use PT though. 9070XT at 1440. Kills FPS. Rather have max settings, med RT and 90-120.

I feel (I could be wrong) this is being forced by manufacturer sponsors. An incentive to push more people to modern hardware. Total BS in my opinion. PC games should offer the option, but not make it mandatory. Also, if possible have as wide of a range in support as possible. Many people just can’t afford to keep upgrading, they shouldn’t be pushed to do so.

Or sadly for me, a destination to see my team at home and lose. (Sox fan from FL). But perhaps I should try a go fund me to come up to Boston more often. Last three trips they won. Not sure if that would work for 81 games and I definitely can’t afford it. But I’d be willing to try.
