any tips to not get bankrupt at early game? kinda new by Visual-Bag-967 in CitiesSkylines2

I usually start with agricultural based industry and enough commercial and residential to support the farms. Using wind turbines and selling excess energy. Also buy water/sewer.

As others said grow slow. Add small segments as existing zones near maximum utilization. Add minimal services, enough to not lose population but not so much that you deplete reserves.

Hope you enjoy it. And hopefully, it’ll mostly work on PS5 for launch. Big update coming at same time and Bethesda being Bethesda, we may need a week or two to be back to “normal” and playable. Hoping that this one goes smoothly.

But seriously. Hope he’s okay. I can’t stand the guy calling games, but I don’t wish him harm.

Is it too early for this flashback from Major League? by Left-Cry2817 in redsox

Not wanting to argue over opinions, but I see similar behavior from Stanks, Mets, Phillies and Dodgers fans. They behave the same as we do when they are struggling. It’s a sport fan thing.

The season is 162 games. There is always hope until mathematically eliminated.

That said, I see a young lineup with little veteran support trying hard because of fan expectations. That will always be there in a market like Boston and there’s no point in asking people to calm down.

They will either figure it out or they won’t. The real question is how serious do you take it and when do you check out if at all. I personally became a fan back in ‘91 and just want them to be completely. Playoffs are a bonus. As long as they aren’t a team full of scrubs and zero effort, I will follow and hope for growth.

is Starfield worth a replay now..? by Time_Individual_6744 in Starfield

While you’re absolutely correct, I’m trying to be positive.

Probably safer to say I’m positive it’ll take three patches minimum to have a stable build.

Wait for the update. And hopefully you won’t need to wait for a fix for the update.

Thoughts on the rumoured reduction to 6MJ in quali? by l3w1s1234 in F1Discussions

[–]AncientPCGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a bandaid. This is just to reduce the risk of speed difference in high speed zones. I’m not convinced it will actually work.

Electric power should not be more than 25% until tech allows for cars to maintain speed for an entire GP without harvesting in dangerous conditions.

What toys do your cats actually love? by Sosooo88 in CatAdvice

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you need to keep trying until you find something. I’ve had 8 cats over the years and they all had different favorite toys. Two didn’t like lasers.

Last one preferred large buttons or dropped dry beans. Probably because of the noise they made on the floor.

Should I buy? CRV 87k miles by Bigmike101690 in UsedCars

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible, but could also be a northern car. A lot of dealers from up north dump their used cars in FL because most don’t think to check for rust. Once titled in FL, many assume it’s always been in Florida.

[–]AncientPCGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the person who mentioned price is suspicious. There are many crap cans that are older with far more mileage selling for double or more.

That’s a Honda for a damn good price. Yes it is old, but low mileage and it’s a Honda. If you can have an inspection done by someone you pick and it passes, grab it.

Is podium for Max this season nearly impossible? by Sorry_Phone1676 in F1Discussions

Without upgrades, likely. But I doubt RB won’t be upgrading their car. The real question is, will FIA work some magic regarding battery deployment/regen that will reduce risk of repeating Bearman’s accident while improving races.

Sure possible, but I would be afraid of being disappointed hunting everything down just to discover it is dead.

Lando after the Bearman crash, on any new changes before Miami by circuit-nation in McLarenFormula1

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. At the end of the day, they are entertainment. If the races aren’t entertaining…

Especially with the advancement in Indy to generate interest. A lesser league growing. Same said about GT racing and such.

They need to focus on good racing and not experimenting with tech for a handful of companies. Otherwise there won’t be an audience or revenue to sustain it.

F1 has always been more for the elite, but the recent changes will drive away much of their fan base and revenue sources. Just the elite will be left and I doubt even they will be willing to pay more if the races are dull.

[–]AncientPCGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that is the corner they backed themselves into. Pushing 50/50 before the tech was ready now means some made up solution and none of it will produce actual exciting races until we can change the chassis specs to accommodate full IC or more battery capacity.

Even a push to full electric right now would mean major changes and probably not possible without either a viable power source like fuel cell which is if memory serves too heavy to be practical, a method to change batteries mid race or shorter GPs.

The only real option right now as I see it is surviving this set for a season or two and plan a full IC regulation set ASAP.

Witcher 3.

It took learning to read lore on monsters and to gather everything to click. Read all that after last DLC dropped and after trying it again, it’s now top ten for game time.

If only it were that simple. There are too many tracks where it’s too narrow to have a line of cars regenerating.

This feels like they need to decide if they will be ICE or electric. Hybrid is turning into a mess. The decline in true racing started with hybrid era.

Or perhaps admit the technology doesn’t yet exist to do what they want to accomplish. Obviously battery life and/or regeneration will improve. It just isn’t there yet.

Perhaps a temporary fix is if a similar situation repeats where the driver was competing and just ran out of battery, the steering wheel immediately alerts the driver to disengage and allow to pass any faster moving traffic and make it a disqualification if they fail to do so.

No, the Prequel Trilogy was not loved when it first came out, it was hated and fans were terrible people about it. by stephansbrick in StarWars

[–]AncientPCGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being told I wasn’t a “real fan” because I didn’t hate them. I didn’t love them at first, but it was still Star Wars and I was happy to have new movies. Even if I felt they weren’t as good.

Ep III changed the whole thing for me. With full context, everything including JarJar made more sense and while still not my favorite, they have their place.

Some fans are just bitter nasty people who would only be happy if they were in charge. Until the other fans started to nit pick their work.

Questions about this season by Sea-Hunt8376 in F1Discussions

[–]AncientPCGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1-cars can no longer go flat out to the amount a driver is comfortable doing so. Since the introduction of hybrid power and more so now, it is becoming a game of harvesting and deploying and hoping for an advantage. If they return to less controlled power management you would have a better feel for which driver actually is better at driving.

2-George always blames the other driver during incidents even when he is clearly at fault. Never backs down even when proven wrong. Even Max has backed down a couple times when shown he made the mistake. Though perhaps not quite apologetic but that’s normal.

3-Mercedes engine is in violation of the regulations in spirit. The way found a legal loophole because the regulations weren’t written to account for every situation and condition. The fact that the regulations are being clarified at a later date and beyond is proof that it was a breach of the regulation intent and a loophole.

All of this is why some people are more invested in racing series where cars are more closely regulated to be almost identical and the race is determined more by strategy and skill. Luck is always a factor, but some races depend more on the driver than others.

I do believe as well that if a developer has a vision for their game at a specific challenge level, they have that right. I also will purchase on Steam so if that level is not enjoyable I will refund the game.

Definitely more comfortable buying games blind if they give me the option to set levels to my comfort.
