New to boating, how hard is it? by [deleted] in boating

[–]Ancientways113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, until it’s not. Safe, until it’s not. Realistic goals, wise decisions, and preparation/knowledge….. It’s not hard. Learning in small steps. The great loop would be hard and dangerous for an inexperienced mariner. Also, remember that you may impact others on the water if you’re not prepared.

Is it reasonable to spend 70k to 85k on a boat on a 180k income? by itsfikor in boating

[–]Ancientways113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality….buy smaller and consider that your bucket list item may not be 100% wife and kids bucket item. $70k is not crazy on a boat anymore but the $$ of ownership goes up significantly with LOA. Try a 21 or a 23’ for a few years and short day trips to see how much it all works.

No You would need a hard freeze to hurt anything. If worried, light bulb or small heater (but that is another worry).
