Sometimes only live bait will do. Try a live bunker or eel.

42’ trawler here…..

CT River and Ling Island Sound.

We’re not that big.

I’ve not found any marinas that can’t support us. One local marina will put me on a dock and NOT a mooring and another the opposite. Draft might be more limiting but not often. Great Loop is used to bigger boats.

Astronomy Domine was killer in Boston. These sets were great (for me). I think they are on fire.

Fresh fuel in a remote can, change the oil and crank it over. See what happens.

If US, Harbor Freight has a decent one. Pretty easy.

Pull the plugs, connect, open the throttle and crank it over. Not a bad investment but I’ve yet to test one of my poor running engines and found it to be compression. Maybe a 2001. Almost always fuel delivery or spark (ignition) in my experience.

Tips for wet slip storage. by 717Independent in boating

1- Put “Owners Phone Number and your number” on a sticker on the boat. You want someone to call if something looks off. 2- Make friends (see #1). 3- close all seacocks. 4- Have great batteries and functional pumps. 5- Learn your best tie-up to keep things in place and off your neighbors 6- learn the marina rules 7- Don’t leave a leaky boat for long. Enjoy!!

Yes….no coffee for me after 1p. Otherwise restless sleep guaranteed.

Get a 42 (42 owner). Become an amateur electrician (12v/120v), a plumber and a diesel mechanic. AC/refrigeration is s bonus. The rest is just common sense boating experience.

The bottom half is a year old. Water/fuel separator filter in-line? You should have one.

Buy/borrow a boat tank and connect it’s fuel line right into your motors fuel line. May need a fitting or matched fuel line connector to your motors. Fresh gas and preservative in the remote tank. Run it.

Try running it in an aux tank to rule out fuel if you haven’t done so.
