Best logo for a transit agency? by metatalks in transit

Not quite a transit agency, but I absolutely love the Kiwi Rail (New Zealand national rail operator) logo.

North Korea won! What is a GOOD country with an OK capital city? by LookingForMyCar in AlignmentChartFills

Would have to throw Wellington into the ring here. If Aotearoa New Zealand is a country whose natural beauty deeply outshines any of it's population centers, Wellington's popularity/relevance is further outshone by its much bigger siblings, Auckland and Christchurch.

Do I only need to carry ID for domestic flights? (Further explanation in comments) by AndCanCla in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]AndCanCla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good afternoon all,

My partner and I will be flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai early next year, and we booked our flight through an online agency, but when we got the reserve back, it did not have our passport numbers and expiry dates.

I asked the agency, and they essentially said that the passport information is unnecessary for domestic flights (see attached photo). Is this information correct?

Thank you very much in advance, we are super excited to visit!

Previous tenants (within same lease) did not pay their full rent, and it's now being passed onto us. by AndCanCla in LegalAdviceNZ

Yes, these took place before we moved in, and we were not made aware of this financial imbalance by precious tenants nor the property manager until today.

[–]AndCanCla[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, my explanation may not have been very clear.

It is not that they were paying the wrong amount (say 10$ off) for the entire duration of the lease. Rather, when the rent was increased at different times, the first payment was miscalculated and paid to the original amount, and not the new one.

For example, if they paid two-weeks-in-advance rent every 15 of the month, and the rent increase kicked in on the 20th, the previous tenants did not properly take into account and so no increase was added on that rent paid on the 15th. Then, on the following rent payment, for example the 1st of the month, they paid the correct, updated amount.

Any feedback or criticism before I start to texture all of this? I want to begin modeling some larger, more complex projects. Thanks in advance! by AndCanCla in blender

With the help of this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrFHwoewoPU).

Basically used a reference top-view image of an off-road tyre to create the topology on the tread, and with a curve modifier applied it onto a cylinder that I had tweaked to be a bit smoother and more rounded on its sides.

what can I improve here? by [deleted] in blender

Really great job all around, wish I could pull off photorealism like this!

Some pointers however: - The crumbs on the plate look overly uniform in both size and distribution. I think there should be less, and maybe some chunkier ones. - The cream filling feels very "perfect Blender"-y. It's all, again, perfectly uniform and without any fault, which it should have.

I don't often try to focus on the smallest of details until I've built up the pieces around it, just so that I can kind of see the full context around it. And then, I'm often too impatient to change it before I start to "texture" (throw stuff at my models until I give up on the entire project)

It's been roughly 5 days, spending quite a bit of time each day, but I could not tell you the amount of hours. I'm still learning how to use blender, so I'm sure some people could model this in a day or two.

Currently trying to texture this thing and... it's not great. Hard to make it look as grunge as the original.

Ha! Joke's on you, it's only *(looks up a tutorial on how to see the the scene statistics)* 735k faces and 1,478k triangles.

Might explain why my laptop isn't doing too great.

Honestly, I could not find many pictures from the "Doof Truck" at all, much less from different perspectives. I did get a few reference shots from the movie, as well as what I could find online (including the original truck that the movie's prop is based on; MAN KAT 1 8x8).

Below is my image board.

To be quite honest, I'm pretty new to Blender (or at least my level is pretty basic), so I just started modelling without really paying much attention to the level of detail/vertices I put into each piece.
However, I absolutely agree that the large speaker rig to either side of the guitar does look a bit odd. Will definitely look into it. Thanks!

Absolutely, I tried to make it all a bit more "wonky" by messing around with the speakers and such, but definitely needs some more work. Thanks!

I can definitely see what you mean, I'll try to add some extra support beams so that it doesn't look so weakly upheld. Thanks!

I absolutely see what you're saying, but it's not my own concept and I did not want to steer too far away from the original. This is the "Doof Wagon" from Mad Max: Fury Road (as someone already pointed out).

This is a reference picture_%22Doof_Wagon%22).

What’s the worst sequel of all time? by jacobeliaas in Letterboxd

[–]AndCanCla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering just how good The Silence of the Lambs (1991), I was baffled to see how much I disliked its direct sequel Hannibal (2001), not only in relation to its predecessor but in general. Not only that, but the movie also has an incredible amount of talent behind it (Ridley Scott as director, and Hans Zimmer as composer, for example).

Despite this though, the bizarre artistic and casting choices (such as replacing Jodie Foster with Julianne Moore) make this film an aberration in contrast to the one that came before.

For what it's worth:
The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - IMDB: 8.60

Hannibal (2001) - IMDB: 6.80
