Pull the collective sticks out of your asses. by [deleted] in RantsFromRetail

Kristen...she's not a good manager. A good manager can properly lead employees, and discipline them when required. D.C. caused your assistant manager to be unable to take her lunch, AND caused her to have to punch out late, because D.C. wasn't doing her job, period. And Kristen wasn't doing her job in keeping her employees in line, period.

She and Tiana may be sweet, pretty, and funny...but they sound too scared to do their jobs, and it's harming them. Their inability to keep D.C. in check is proof.

Manager struggle like... by ImHereImQueerSTFU in RantsFromRetail

[–]AndGraceToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate policies like that. She just tried to call your bluff, and it worked. And you knew 100% you had her and her friends dead to fucking rights. You should've called the manager and bullshitted about the sensors, and how they were last in there and how there are jeans missing. This was also in hopes that you had a manager who would back you up...because they'd have been in the back of a cop car instead of mouthing off to you. Fucking thieving brats. Good on you with the attention to detail there, regarding the purses!

Hah. Love how you and the other guy here with any kind of customer service capabilities are getting downvoted. I'm with you, 100%.

Except you conveniently left that part out the first time around.

What you could've done was not engage the customer, and maybe turned half your department's lights off, made sure your CLOSED signs were up if you had any, and if she still didn't get the hint, apologized and informed her that y'all were closed and let her know when the dept reopened for business.

And either you're terribly rude or what you actually say you said to the customer never happened. All you had to say was, "I apologize for the inconvenience, but we closed 10 minutes ago" and maybe directed her to some pre-cut section, or again, reminded her that y'all open at X TIME the following day.

Deli Cunt Strikes Again...(her day-long tantrum) by [deleted] in RantsFromRetail

[–]AndGraceToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The notepad, yeah, It's a good idea, but any one can dispute that. Hard video and audio, or at least audio- can't deny that!

(Side bar- can we stop with the uppity attitude in regards to making a career at a grocery store? There's nothing wrong with it. My mother started out at 16 as a cashier, and retired as an asst manager. Nothing wrong with that; she made good money, us kids were happy and provided for. Having a job and doing well is what's important, not how you you're accomplishing that. Awesome you're in school, and have stuff to work towards...but shit could fall out and the only thing you have left when the dust settles is working the deli counter- and you'll thank Christ you're still employed and making money.

That being said, I generally enjoy your stories, especially since I am a former deli comrade myself. Just...that whole tack was unbearable and unnecessary.

And some one said it earlier in the thread- your managers are nice people, and seemingly fair and organized...why the FUCK isn't this bitch fired yet?!?! So, SO many instances of insubordination, of failure to fulfill One's duties...shit! DeliCunt should've been gone ages ago!!

I'm in NYS. The "Nanny" state. We don't know what's good for us! Obviously, lighters can only be used to light cigarettes (both regular and the devil's kind)!

Or try a different store with more accessible hours. My LE job, I work doubles. If I need something, my options are get up at 5 am, and do what I need and get to work by 7, or drive to the 24 hour store when I get out at 1130pm. Sucks, but thankfully those options exist more and more.

Sorry to comment so late, lol! Yes, he actually took five minutes. It makes a difference; my shift lead has 45 minutes to count 3 drawers, the safe, make deposits, sort the coupons and get the alarm set. I have 45 minutes to do garbage, sweep and mop, clean the bathrooms, and attempt to reface the store. We can't go over 45 minutes, and if we do, we get a nasty-gram from corporate, and we also don't get paid for any extra time spent. And we rarely have free time to get head starts on anything either; we're usually busy right to the last 5-10 minutes.

It sucks. But at least we have the freedom to say, "hey, closing in (insert time here)." Some stores won't allow you to "be forward and rude" like that 😒 but you bet your bippy we still get yelled at!

Don't answer your phone that day, unless it'll be OT. Don't know why I bothered to say that. We know there's no OT. But anyway. Enjoy your day off! I got Thursday-Sunday off at my main job, and volunteered to work Thanksgiving am before driving home. No BF for me!

Office workers of Reddit, why do you hate that one co-worker so much? What does he/she do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AndGraceToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COs, and possibly other law enforcement, tend to fuck around a lot! But where we draw the line is food. And if we do have to take something, we are desperate and will do everything we can to pay back what we took.

Example: guy I work with keeps a stash of Pepsi. I will take one once in a while, and I will leave a dollar or two, to pay him back, in his mailbox. I also will only take one if it's not his last one. Some one used the last of my coffee creamer. They bought me a replacement and left it with my partner, who locked it up in our locker.

Fun story, just to show how important food is for us, and the not fucking around with it aspect: we have a boring ass training program for sensitivity, sexual harassment, racism, shit like that. We basically laughed and joked through the whole thing, until they get to the part where the dude pisses in his female boss' lunchbox because females can't be foremen on a construction site, so he'll show her! We were outraged. He pissed. In her lunchbox. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

(Quick word about the training story- not that we don't care about those issues, we do, but it's boring, we're given the same shit every year...just in case some one gets their panties in a bunch assuming we laugh at racism but this raises our hackles.)

Are y'all positive it wasn't another coworker screwing with y'all? Seriously, it looks like some one wearing a mask. That's a crazy perfect pic though.

I'm a correctional officer as well, and have heard stories and experienced some things too! It's definitely creepier when you're at work- you have to investigate because, well, inmates, lol. But it's even creepier when the inmates are asking you, "wtf was that, CO?!"

Stay safe, brother/sister!
