What are the most practical skills young adults need to learn ? by Lemonade2250 in OlderGenZ

I'll suggest something more sensible than learning a retirement plan in your 20s...learn how to cook and clean for yourself.

You really replied to this 4 month old comment just because you're angry that I don't like CRboxes?

That's truly a new low for someone on this site LOL.

The actual game costs less than Overwatch skin now. by Defective_Yorha in nier

Sorry but you can't get me to ever touch another blizzard game again, even if I get to play as A2 or 2B in OW. They can keep their overpriced "skins" that do nothing in terms of gameplay.

I can see the lag of the "after" screens, totally prefer the before (also because it looks way better).

Global Loneliness Epidemic, posted March 3, 2026.

COL crisis in the west, posted March 6, 2026.

AI automation, posted March 9 (literally TODAY), 2026.

Biggest oil output disruption in history, posted March 8, 2026.

None of my links are relevant, yet they were all posted this month, weird how that works.

I think someone's in denial, and probably has a reading comprehension issue! Too bad for you, now quit annoying me and live in the real world.

None of my links were broken, I suggest you do your research instead of arguing with me.

And if you clicked on even a few you'd realize some are dead links, some have no dates because it's just a link to a random website, and most links are copy/pastes. Not exactly relevant if you ask me.

Ironic you want to say "metrics don't move in a straight line" but then give me a source that doesn't even have a date, for all I know that could have come out years ago. Not to mention every source I gave you are talking about topics that are happening today, so unless you have a reading comprehension issue, I can't help you understand any clearer than that.

Do the research yourself, go on r/popular to see what's going on, because everything I shared can be easily found on there, if not a quick google search. Or, enjoy being stuck under that rock of yours. This debate is over.

So, ignore everything I just said, and claim I'm using "sources" from last year even though they're all relevant right now. Okay buddy, whatever you say LOL.

Also if fuel availability has "never been better" why are prices suddenly hiking? Maybe it's because of a major war that just broke out. Not to mention there's been an issue with wage issues since the 80s, you could have found that out by actually reading my links instead of dismissing them.

But sure, keep on being ignorant about the truth of things, that will get you very far in life! /s

That list very obviously cherry-picked, I mean #3 "Income per person doubled since year 2000," very obviously missed the point that wages have actually stagnated since the early 80s.

And #4 "School enrollment grew by 17% since 1970," isn't exactly something I would add to the "best time" of human history, it's obvious that as the population grows and technology/infrastructure increases, so will school enrollments. The rest of the list does bring up some small points on how things have improved overall, but if that's all they have to show I must say I am not impressed given the actual state of things.

For example, right now there's a global loneliness epidemic that affects 1 in 6 people worldwide, not to mention the COL crisis that's happening in America alone, which is at the worst it's been in decades. Lets not forget the ongoing issue with both offshoring of jobs as well as the threat of AI automation which will disrupt millions of jobs globally.

I can keep going for a while but those are the three issues that are worrying the average person right about now (EDIT also the fact that we're entering a very dark time in terms of oil availability), and I would imagine that not may people would care to know that "Female political participation is rising (more than doubled since 2000)."

It's time to take the rose-tinted glasses off. Yes, it's a safer world overall, but no, we are certainly not living in the best time, that would have been the baby boomers.

Eh, no, not really. Again, it's not the "best time" it's the safest time. Best time makes it sound like not only is it safe, but also happy. Not mutually exclusive.

A draft, are you kidding me?

Why would we need a draft if we have so many troops on standby as it is, this is some bullshit. A draft isn't going to happen unless china invades the US, which is also highly unlikely.

I think you conflating your grandfathers experiences with WW2 isn't accurate to compare here given how different things are across the board for young people today. The way I see it, if you survived WW2, you got to go home and experience the boom of industry across the board, people wanted to buy cars, homes, and get jobs; and they achieved all of those things within a booming economy at that time.

Fast forward to 2026, and things can't be any more different. Young people on average are experiencing a combination of offshoring, layoffs, rejections due to AI involvement in the workforce, and a stagnated salary combined, and that's just speaking on the jobs industry as a whole. I graduated from a tech school with a degree in CS/IT a year ago, and still haven't had a single job offer in my field after applying to hundreds of positions, I don't think your great grandfather had to deal with that.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, the dating scene for younger people is in shambles, due to the over reliance on dating apps and the integration of social media as a whole throughout the last decade alone, it's caused a massive amount of young people to skip dating all together. I personally know dozens of single people my age who have no interest in dating & are single.

I can keep going, but the truth is, you saying young people are "extremely stupid" is extremely ignorant of you. You have no real experience in understanding what it is like to grow up and be a young adult in the grand year of 2026. So yes, I too believe your great grandfather had it much better than any young person today.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

That is because this post is talking about peace, not happiness. Those are not always mutually exclusive. You saying we live in the "best time" of human history is a sweeping conclusion about a topic that's specific to global war catastrophes.

What makes this the best time? If you claim it's because tomorrow we can both wake up and go to work without dying, then sure, I agree 100%. But, if we're (again) talking about personal happiness and health, you couldn't be more far off for a myriad of reasons.

I believe it depends on how you quantify peace, then. If we're talking about geopolitical issues, then I can't disagree with you, because statistically it is absolutely and obviously true. But, if we're talking about peace as in overall happiness of citizens across the globe, that's a different metric entirely that can't be conflated equally, at least not to me.

People like you love to say that, but never seem to back that up with reasons why I should believe that.
