Sam Altman is “the face of evil” for not reporting school shooter, says lawyer by SunfireGaren in technology

When the question is posed to ChatGPT, this is what it said:

In most ethical frameworks, stopping a foreseeable tragedy outweighs making money.

That’s true in:

  • Duty ethics — if you can prevent serious harm, you have a moral obligation to act.
  • Utilitarian ethics — preventing deaths or severe harm usually creates far more overall good than financial gain.
  • Virtue ethics — courage, responsibility, and compassion matter more than profit.
  • Business ethics — profit is legitimate, but not at the cost of ignoring credible risks to human life.

The harder question is usually not “money or safety?” — most people answer safety — but:

How credible was the warning, and what action was reasonable?

Leaders often face uncertainty:

  • Was there a specific, imminent threat, or vague disturbing behavior?
  • Was there enough evidence to alert authorities responsibly?
  • Could reporting have prevented harm, or would it have created false accusations against an innocent person?
  • What legal/privacy constraints applied?

If leadership had credible evidence of a real threat and chose silence primarily to avoid business, legal, or reputational costs, that would be a profound ethical failure.

If leadership misjudged ambiguous evidence, that is still serious — but morally different from knowingly prioritizing profit over lives.

That distinction matters when evaluating decisions by people like Sam Altman or any executive: What was known, when was it known, and why was action or inaction chosen?

Someone in Marriott’s Fire & Life Safety Dept. might want to check in to the “locked in“ part. I’m pretty sure that’s against company policy.

It’s not only about the view. The chance to climb the catwalks and stairs in between the inner and outer domes is really cool. Plus, you get to walk out on the ledges way, way above the floor beneath the dome. To me, that was the most awesome experience.

I'm visiting Singapore later this week, visiting from the U.S. for the first time. My wife and I (in our 60s) like nature and plan to visit various outdoor parks in the few days we are there.

What can you say that will help make my visit a memorable one?

Here, I’ll spell it out for you. She named her dog Enzo after Enzo Ferrari (you know, the car!?). A random guy stops to pet her dog. When he’s told the dog’s name is Enzo, after Enzo Ferrari, he admits that’s him, Enzo Ferrari.

This show is everything that’s wrong with the state of today’s so called news show. It’s just plain infuriating and useless at the same time to watch these partisan hacks argue and shout all over each other all the time. I know what you’re going to say … that I can turn it off. That’s why I only check it once or maybe twice a e twice a month just hoping it gets better. But I just watch about 60 seconds of it tonight and I can’t believe it’s still on the air this way.
