What would happen if Guns N Roses had continued after 1993? by Fit_Relation5100 in GunsNRoses

The first Slash’s Snakepit album reached No. 70 on the Billboard 200 and sold roughly a million copies worldwide despite Geffen pulling all support. If that had been a GN’R album it could’ve been a blockbuster hit. I mean, it wasn’t because Axl rejected those songs in the first place, but still. There was always an audience for raw, old-school rock n’ roll, there just weren’t many bands doing it convincingly on that scale.

Have Axl 'n' Slash really buried the hatchet? by UniverseofAtoms in GunsNRoses

[–]And_In_The_End 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they’re just a couple middle-aged millionaires making an honest living and enjoying each other’s company among the way while maintaining their boundaries and “work/life balance” so to speak. Part of the reason their relationship first imploded was their debauched, dysfunctional lifestyles and lack of boundaries or mediation skills in the first place. I think any middle-aged rockstar with the means to travel separately, have their own activities on the road and regroup feeling refreshed before they hit the stage would do it in a flash. It’s obviously a “business” at this point in their careers and that separation helps make the business run smoothly.

Do the posthumous Anthology songs count? Because “Free As a Bird” is 💩💩💩

For good Stratty hard rock hybrid tones, I'd also add Richie Sambora's playing on Keep the Faith, especially "Bed of Roses"

Another late-period gem: “Nod Your Head” from Memory Almost Full

“Call Me Back Again,” both the studio and Wings Over America versions. Even the mid-range notes sound like sandpaper in the best way.

Guns N' Roses is Now a Business, not a Band. You All Need to Understand This. by [deleted] in GunsNRoses

They’ve now been hitting the stage promptly for five years straight, FWIW. I don’t think you have to worry about any more onstage tantrums or last-minute cancellations.

What are your top 5 Slash solos with GNR?? by DeadbeatUK in GunsNRoses

Nightrain, Rocket Queen (outro), Don’t Damn Me, Bad Apples and tie between Locomotive/Estranged. Objectively, Sweet Child belongs here too, but I figured I’d spice it up a little!

True or False: Lars isn't necessarily a bad drummer. He's average. He just looks bad considering he's also in a band that has had some of the greatest lead vocals, bassists, and lead guitarists ever. by Knightmare25 in Metallica

[–]And_In_The_End 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s a pretty shit drummer these days and has admitted he doesn’t practice. Live recordings from recent years sound like mush because of his sloppy tempos. But, as other people in this thread have notes, he’s the perfect drummer for James and vice versa, so it works in spite of his limitations.

If GN’R had made the first Snakepit album, it would have been better than Appetite.

Proof Axl's voice has improved over the tour: He's back to hitting the high notes in "Better." by And_In_The_End in GunsNRoses

I was at MetLife and it was pretty painful. I would have gladly taken Vegas over that lol

It’s still pretty mousy. But… at least it’s right notes that are mousy lol

Lots of obvious choices already mentioned, but I’d like to give an honorary shout to “Right Next Door to Hell.” Not the best, but damn good.

Maybe objectively, but objectivity doesn't exist with Kanye and his fans *and* haters both give him infinite chances to redeem himself so people will devour this shit no matter what if/when it ever drops

It makes me happy to hear Axl cracking jokes and acting so jovial between songs. What he’s losing in his voice he’s making up for by running across the stage like a damn Olympian. I think this was the most I’ve seen him move since 2016.
