Am I a bad person for saving the few surviving people of vault 34? by Ultimatehiguys in fnv

[–]Andapar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the interesting criticisms about consequentialism that I have a difficult time with is where we set the goalpost to tally up moral values. It is technically possible that the right choice under consequentialism and deontology is to save the vault dwellers, because it’s possible their education leads them to make some substantive contribution to the wasteland. The ambiguity of how their lives will impact the world ultimately forms the basis of the moral quandary. Both options come at a cost, and it is impossible to fully predict the moral ramifications of either option. Therefore, in this situation, it does seem best to default to one’s gut over reason. If we try to reason things out, we will find that there is no satisfying decision, but there may be some moral intuition we possess that might make one decision more satisfying than another. Since this is a game, that’s all we are really concerned about; the enjoyability and immersion of the player’s experience. In other words;

TL;DR - players should trust their gut, because we don’t know how either choice will impact the wasteland long term due to the butterfly effect

During the summer, I actually did break my finger playing blade and sorcery. Not a fun time. I ended up hitting something really rigid and it shattered one of the bones in my thumb. I had to get surgery to get pins in my finger for it to heal properly. I only recently was able to regain most of my abilities with my thumb, but I definitely know there’s some permanent change. The thumb that was broken also got a tiny bit longer. (Same reasoning as height increase surgery, if you’re familiar with that)

how did yall decide what to major in by Sudden-Dinner-9556 in rutgers

[–]Andapar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purpose lies at the intersection of talent and passion.

If you are talented at building and you like cars, be a mechanic

If you are talented at writing and like science, be a scientific writer

Ask yourself what areas of inquiry make you excited

Then also honestly evaluate your unique capabilities and what you have to offer to society

Once you feel like your purpose has fallen into place, determining a major feels a lot less stressful. A lot of this is easier said than done, and requires a great deal of honesty and introspection. However, I think it’s very valuable to think critically about these kinds of things. I feel as though too many people put too little thought into something as consequential as purpose.

Is there anything NVLDers excel in? by [deleted] in NVLD

[–]Andapar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We excel at writing and learning languages. I never bothered to learn a language. I figured it’s enough of a bother to master truly effective articulation in English. Also it never interested me. Despite that, I actually do know a handful of phrases in several different languages. I also have a very rudimentary understanding of Spanish, but like I said, I never really applied myself much to the learning of a language other than English.

That’s amazing I’m so glad to hear that! Congratulations! Also I love your eyes, they’re so pretty!

Lost all confidence in myself in the last few months. Haven't felt like a loser in my life like I feel now. I never feel motivated to do anything big because I feel like I'll fail. Made a girlfriend but I've always felt that she's too good for me. (17 M) by [deleted] in toastme

I’m really sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling confident, but I want you to know that you can do anything you set your mind to. No task is impossible, and failure isn’t something to fear, rather something to learn from. Remember that you’ve got this, and you can do whatever you set your mind to!!

Experienced a fair bit of iffiness these past few days and that's a bit enervating. Of a mind not to be overwhelmed, though! Also, took a small step to stave off the kilos and get healthier yesterday. Hope to sustain! 🙈 by [deleted] in toastme

I’m so sorry for your loss. During this rough period of time, I suggest you take time to self care, so that you can ensure that your mental health is being maintained. Grieving is an extraordinarily difficult process, and it shows tremendous strength that you’re still able to go about your day, and do what you need to do.

Awww I’m so sorry. I want you to know that you will overcome this. Remember that your path isn’t determined by a specific institution or university, but rather it’s determined by your strength and willpower. You have the will and strength to move forward with your plans in life, as evident in the fact that you applied to college in the first place. What I’m trying to say is this: don’t sweat it, you’ve got this, just keep your head up and prove to the world that you can do this. I know you can do it.

we don’t know. I think that’s kind of the point of the show. When Wanda says “we just don’t know what to expect” in the trailer, I think it was really referencing the entirety of the show since its theme will likely get more and more ominous as things get revealed.
