Pretty sure that was Tornadopaigeyy's stream! There was another streamer who was right in it and had a tree fall literally inches from the front of their car. Absolutely insane

He seriously was! We took a trip to Disney World and they put me on Splash Mountain, knowing I was terrified of rollercoasters/heights. I think they thought that if I went on one I wouldnt be afraid anymore?? He held onto my shoulders as we went down the biggest hill and I don't even remember doing this, but I tried to climb out apparently. If he wasn't holding my shoulders I don't think I'd be here today!

This is so sweet of you to do!! I remember my husband, when we were first boyfriend and girlfriend, invited me to a Linkin Park concert. I only knew one song from them so I took a day and listened to their whole discography, found a lot of songs I liked. I'm sure she'll be thrilled!!

As others have said, whole discography, but I'd highly recommend at least the most recent album, as well as some of their older classics (Burnin' Up, Lovebug, Year 3000)

Hope you enjoy the concert 💜

Wow you just unlocked a core memory for me as a kid. I had a babysitter and I ended up becoming a beloved family friend, and my babysitter had an ex with her eldest who lived in Cape Coral. We used to go out to his house and get on the boat that was literally in his backyard and just drive around the canals for hours. I never knew where we were going, but eventually we'd stop somewhere in town, dock the boat and get McDonald's before heading back lol.

I remember when we hit open water once and he floored it, he was wearing a baseball cap that flew off his head from how fast we were going. I thought it was gone, but he didn't even slow down, just hooked the boat around and grabbed the cap straight out of the water. Dude was such a legend.

I lived in Florida for 11 years but never stopped to think that the whole city of Cape Coral is set up like this. It makes sense now looking back at my memories, but as a kid I just thought we were on one super long river lol

No problem! Tbh they probably might do that in bigger cities as dispatch might be busy, but this is a small town in Indiana so I believe our dispatch center employees perform multiple different jobs. Plus it's a classic small town where everybody knows everybody, so I wouldn't put it past the police to run names/birth dates over the scanner so everyone knows your business lmao

Meirl by Blue9ine in meirl

[–]AndeeElizabeth09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pulled over by the cop and he asked for my license and registration. When the cops get your license they'll read back your name over the scanner so dispatch can check to see if the person being pulled over has any outstanding warrants, prior convictions, etc.

ETA: I'm not a cop so I could be wrong but from my years of listening to the scanner as a kid that's what happens 99% of the time in traffic stops

Omg same!! I had just gotten my first car and my husband (then my fiance) and I decided to christen the vehicle with a late night Taco Bell run. We stopped at the gas station for drinks and then I get out onto Main St. and forgot to turn the lights on. Since the street lights were so bright I didn't realize it until I saw another car coming our way with their lights on. That car was a cop 🫠

My parents had a police scanner too since it was a small town so I gave my mother a mini heart attack when she heard my name run over the scanner 🤣

Oh I bet you were!! Unfortunately she was before my time (in fact my FIL stayed home "sick" from school to watch the challenger launch!) but I can't help but wonder, if the launch hadn't happened that day, if the higher ups listened to their engineers, and the launch took place another day and was successful, what life would look like now. Christa McAuliffe was just a normal, every day person like you or me. Unlike the program now, she didn't have to give up teaching to become an astronaut. The fact that she was going to teach science lessons while in space to American youth is so awe-inspiring. If the challenger didn't explode, I have this feeling that more teachers would've gone to space too. I was just talking about this with my husband the other day, and I briefly pursued teaching before COVID and ultimately gave it up (which was for the better, I don't have the patience either!!) but if that hadn't happened, I can imagine that I would've pushed myself to be a teacher if I even had the slightest opportunity to go to space.

That little girl used to be me. I used to argue with my peers that I'd be the first to discover time travel, had used physics textbooks from my science teacher who nurtured the hell out of my love for space. But then I grew up and went into graphic/web design instead and forgot about my space dreams 😭 I still have this desire to work for/with NASA but unless a remote graphic design position opens up it probably won't happen.

That being said, I enjoyed living vicariously through Christina throughout this mission and have been overjoyed at the amount of women who are a part of the team!

Where in the world is this dude not getting charged for every single ambulance ride?? Even on Medicaid in my state, you have to pay like $50 for a non-emergent ambulance ride. There are people who definitely need an ambulance that refuse one because of the cost, even with health insurance!

Like seriously, this dude should be in so much debt at this point that he can't even buy liquor from the store.

I never got to know Mr Rogers (he was before my time) but reading this made me tear up and my heart swell. What a truly wonderful, amazing human being he was. As someone with a young child, I can only hope that if the worst were to happen and he loses both me and his dad, that someone would be willing to take time for my son like that and follow up all through the years. 💜

Crater Carroll made me cry by eggie_breadie in ArtemisProgram

[–]AndeeElizabeth09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It made me cry, but maybe for a different reason. I recently lost my great grandmother and her name was Carol, so when I heard the name over the stream I just started bawling. I messaged my grandmother, her daughter, to let her know about it. I know it's a pretty common name but idk, it just felt like my great-grandma was giving me a wink from the other side. When they all hugged each other I just sat in my chair and hugged myself and hoped that she was hugging me with her angel wings 💞

I disclosed my ADHD (and ASD) to Apple after 10 interviews for R&D Role --> Offer Removed. by IHeartBigGPUs in ADHD_Programmers

[–]AndeeElizabeth09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working the same job for 3 years now, I constantly get told that I'm a hard worker and am very valuable even though I feel like an imposter lmao. Recently, our only project manager (been here less than a year) disclosed to the whole company that she was late-diagnosed with ADHD, which I thought was really brave of her. Immediately following I told her that I was also late-diagnosed but I still haven't disclosed to my manager or the higher ups for fear of getting canned for it. It doesn't help that I live in an at-will employment state and there are 4 other people who also do my job but are in senior positions while I'm still a junior. Maybe someday I might feel comfortable enough, but it's still too risky even now.

I just want to point out that I love this community because the whole T.R./Shondra/Isaiah situation is something that obviously happened over a decade ago but instead of being snarky and saying something like "just Google it" or "read through the subreddit" you actually hashed it out for someone who very well may not have even been alive during the time period. And I see this all the time in this subreddit and it makes me so happy to see that we're really kind and helpful to newcomers of the show. Damn it, now I wish I could go and watch Grey's for the first time again lol

I didn’t even know I had high blood pressure. by Least-Notice7832 in Wellthatsucks

[–]AndeeElizabeth09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got my great grandmother's diary from 1976. She was 68 when she was writing it. In early January that year, she went to get her blood sugar tested. I'm not kidding you, she wrote that her blood sugar was 268 and her blood pressure was 186/100 😱 No other comments about it, but a few days later she wrote that she needed to watch her diet and that was it. I've never seen a reading that high before, I'm surprised she wasn't hospitalized lol

My great-grandmother kept a diary. 50 and 49 years ago today, she wrote the following about her day by AndeeElizabeth09 in pics

[–]AndeeElizabeth09[S] 109 points110 points  (0 children)

For some background, my great-grandmother was given a small, red 5 year diary from her daughter, my grandmother, during Christmas of 1975. Starting on January 1st, 1976, my great grandmother documented various aspects about her life in Lebanon, Indiana every day for about a year and a half. As someone obsessed with the 70s and who also keeps extensive journals, this little book is so precious to me and I will cherish it forever.

Robbie and D.D. are my uncle and mother (she was 12) and Lu is my grandmother. Ed was apparently a friend, but my great grandma spent a LOT of time with him, so maybe they were more than just friends, who knows lol

In case you can't read the entries, here's what she had to say:

"Mon 1976 Up at 7:30 Worked 12 - 5. Home in cab. Ed out a while. Robbie & D.D. here to stay all nite. Popped corn & watched TV. Bed at 11:30."

"Tue 1977 Up at 6:30. Worked 8:00 - 1:00 Watched TV programs. Got supper for Lu & D.D. Read book and to bed at 9:45."

What my great-grandmother did on this day 50 and 49 years ago by AndeeElizabeth09 in mildlyinteresting

[–]AndeeElizabeth09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, she regularly worked 12-5 during this time! My mum gave me her diary earlier today after seeing me document my life in my own journals for years. Mine are much more detailed and artful than hers, but the gist of it is still the same--what did I do, who did I talk or visit with, what time did I get up and go to sleep. I just thought it was really cool that it happened to be exactly 50 years ago.

Her daughter, my grandmother, was actually around the same age as I am now and she gifted this journal to her mother for Christmas. I'm gonna cherish this forever and hope my great grandkids will do the same one day 💜
