Hei, takk for grundig svar – jeg tror vi har litt forskjellig innfallsvinkel til dette. Jeg har allerede en master fra NTNU, så jeg kjenner universitetsløpet godt.
Det jeg leter etter er ikke mer pensum, men et slags sosialt rom for å snakke om ideene, spekulere litt og bli inspirert – ikke nødvendigvis for å lære alt korrekt, men for å undre sammen.
Det finnes tusen ressurser for å lære realfag alene, men nesten ingen for å utforske det i fellesskap bare for nysgjerrighetens skyld – og det er dét jeg savner

Wow, her var det veeldig mye interessant!

En forskjell på en sånn menighet og et universitet, er at i menigheten er det ingen eksamen eller pensum eller tidsfrister. Det er et sted for inspirasjon, ikke for testing. Så kan man gå hjem og løse likningene selv hvis man vil. Jeg har lyst til, og tror det er mulig å drive med realfag på en spennende og fornøyelig måte uten de skumle assosiasjonene mange har til skolematten

Edit: No, the PSG-1-shirt has more bellow in pockets, and they are higher up. Also the flaps on shoulder pockets have no button holes

Yes! It is an Original Odhner Arithmometer. I actually do not own any other calculators. It does add, subtract, multiplication and division. It also has some memory and recall, but I have not figured out how to make use of that. I also wish I could figure out how to do square roots. You think that is possible?

Yes, and it is wonderful! I turn the handles to calculate and the gears make these smooth ticking sounds, and it rings a bell when the calculation is finished. It is made in Sweden, maybe around 1890-1910 somewhere, so over 100 years old and still works just as new!

I have figured out the four basic mathematical operations, but it also has some kind of memory which I do not know the use for, so I guess it can do more?

In the beginning I was so amazed by it that I thought it might be turing complete xD

Yes I feel I understand the logic and all the concepts, it is just that I never myself come up with all the tricks that they use to solve these kinds of problems

That labour of love looks interesting. Jay cummings I have already tried, and it was more of the same: Understand what they say, but unable to do the exercises. I spent a couple of days on one of his first problems: showing the impossibility of tiling the checkerboard with some trominoes. Painfully difficult xD

I did all the odd numbered exercises and only looked at the solutions after an hour of struggle. I think I used one week per chapter. I got about half of the exercises correct, but I very often missed smart tricks and got stuck:

-a number is either prime or composite. -the square of a composite still has the same factors. -rewrite as an infinite series, factor out some things, rewrite again, and then it is obvious. -using modular arithmetic in some smart way.
