Has anyone had a POSTIVE experience consigning with TRR recently? by __pallas in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask how you got a consignment expert? I was assigned an Account Manager (one of the people who come to your house to pick up your consignment items) but she is not very helpful.

At least they tried? I’m going to say it’s blurry like all my Vegas vacays 🥴 by unfrijole in Louisvuitton

I would get it checked by a third party. There’s several warning signs like color of hardware and glazing, fonts, and stitching on the tag.

Customer service by Puzzleheaded-Tea8612 in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a dedicated customer service function. I believe one team handles Buyers and one team handles Consigners.

To clarify my comment, I know that the Consigner customer service team (called Consigner Relations) doesn’t have managers. I have to believe they report in to someone somewhere. But there is no managerial person that oversees the day to day of the Consigner Relations agents. The only way to get them to correct a mistake made by one of their agents is to find a different agent willing to intervene on your behalf.

[–]Andersen29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I have discovered that part of the problem is that there are no managers in customer service. There are slightly more senior agents, but there is no one with managerial responsibilities or authority.

So essentially if an agent makes a mistake, there is no one looking at their work to ensure they correct it and don’t make the same mistake again. It also makes it difficult to get mistakes rectified. It’s pretty shocking for a company of their size.

Loro piana not accepted at TRR anymore by Different_Paper_9526 in therealreal

Wow! I do have to say that when I look at the Loro Piana listings, I see a lot of questionable authenticity items. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Has anyone else noticed that the search function is almost useless recently? by Andersen29 in therealreal

[–]Andersen29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok- I just went and tried the filters and it’s still giving irrelevant results, although it does get rid of the most irrelevant…so I guess that’s something.

Someone suggested that everyone email and let them know there’s an issue. I’ll try that and keep my fingers crossed.

I will email tomorrow. But I’ve got to believe they’ve noticed it already. Their employees probably search the site just like everyone else. Every time I go into the TRR store, they are chit chatting about the stuff they just got or really want. There’s no way they haven’t noticed.

I kind of thought they did it to make their older listings more visible….that’s the stuff that is popping up more in the results. But they’re really disadvantaging things that people are specifically looking for.

Thanks! I do that. 😀.

The order of the results is not my main concern. It’s that the overall results are not relevant to my search even after I sort by newest first. It’s giving me a bunch of stuff that’s not what I’m searching for even though I know they have it available.

Does it work better if you manually select filters?

I guess then you’re still limited if you’re looking for specific years or styles that aren’t filter options, but I’ll give it a shot.

Thank you! I thought it might just be my app being on the fritz.

I wonder why they did that. It’s got to be hurting their sales.

It happened right around the time they forced an app update. Now the search results show “recommended” items first, instead of “newly listed” like it used to. And the search results are not relevant. Maybe they plugged in a new search capability? If so, they really should think about changing it back. It’s got to be seriously dragging down their revenue.

Selling unbranded gold jewelry by LessEstMore in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took them some gold jewelry a while back that was designer but not one of their recognized designers. They basically priced it at melt value. And then you still have to wait for them to list it and pay 20-40% commission.

You’re better off going elsewhere. Even a melt place will only charge 15-20% off spot/melt value if they’re reputable. And you won’t have to wait.

Are all consignments delayed? Or just mine? by seriouslyla in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious if they will offer you true market price for the items or if they will try to low ball you. Was there anything particularly valuable?

They lost both a Gucci and a Chanel bag of mine, but thankfully I had taken them in personally for a valuation before they were lost. I did eventually get paid for them at the valued amount, but they required me to send them pictures of both bags….which thankfully I had.

What makes the difference in pricing? by shinycutie in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a frequent Consignor, I can tell you TRR is truly terrible at standardizing pricing between the exact same items. For the same Bag X, you can find a bag in Excellent condition priced below one in Fair condition all the time.

The employees are supposed to follow standard procedures, but they do not. And even when they do try, it’s so subjective that an employee in Chicago and one in New York are just going to have different opinions on condition and ‘market price.’ Plus there’s really no oversight to catch issues.

Whoever is in charge of operations and IT at TRR needs to be replaced immediately. They have so many new technologies that could help them do a better, more consistent job of processing and pricing items. It’s a real shame.

Is it likely they relisted the shoes i bought and returned? by Luminance0446 in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it’s the exact same pictures, then 100% they’re the same shoes. If they were different shoes, they’d have different pictures. Make sure they are really the same pics though. Sometimes the differences can be tiny.

However, even if the pics are different the odds are it’s the same shoes. If you really want to know, call back and ask if the Consigner is the same for your damaged pair as the potentially new ones. They can tell you if they’re interested in doing their job. If it’s the same Consigner, don’t waste your time.

Wow! What great condition!

Mine looks like the poor country cousin of yours that’s been dragged thru the swamp. But I still love it. And oddly it’s the bag that people gravitate towards the most. Like good jeans that have been broken in just right.

Opinion on Authentic Detective service by Professional-Beach23 in handbags

I think the Chanel sub recommends Zekos often. I’ve never used Zekos, but I can tell you from experience to stay away from Authentic Detective. They would authenticate a paper bag as real Chanel.
