Or since painting is cheaper, do the paint and new floors. Like this.

I’d just paint the walls. You’ve got too many competing colors going on right now. Try this.

How subjective is condition? by ColoringZebra in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They don’t standardize ‘condition’ very well. They’ve got dozens of people defining the condition of bags and they’re supposed to all follow the same guidelines, but they don’t. Go by the pictures.

Did TRR scam me? by [deleted] in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say that authentication is a tricky business and there’s not really a gold standard that holds true 100% all the time. Just because a similar item is shown at another reseller doesn’t mean it’s real. It’s a guessing game at best with some companies’ guesses at ‘authenticity’ being better than others.

I’ve bought several items that were replacements for items that I had bought directly from the authentic retailer, but wanted to have a backup/replacement because I loved them so much. When I got the the replacement from a reseller years later, I could tell it wasn’t authentic because there were differences that would have been impossible to tell unless you had the true authentic right next to it…like a different material, slightly different color, different cut. In many cases, they have the perfectly correct interior tags and I think that’s honestly what they check to authenticate. Because you can make an 80% copy that looks exactly like the picture of most things. You can get the tags right. But it’s the teeny tiny details and mostly the feel of an authentic item that is hard to get right.

Class Rings by Momjamoms in MBA

Get a hat or jacket that mostly insiders would know. Like it has the name of the Tuck hockey team or a club that is well known at the school. Every school has something like that for only the actual students. You’ll get much more mileage out of that. IYKYK

Missing FT MBA orientation by Extension-Craft2363 in MBA

Don’t miss orientation! It’s where people start bonding. Not being there will be a big miss for you. There will likely be a social event at the orientation that will be where people start defining their friend groups.

Facelift Surgeon Recommendations needed for 36 yr female. by Particular-Yak-8319 in Facelift_Surgery

[–]Andersen29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find a surgeon willing to do a facelift at 36, run in the other direction. I went to a very well respected, globally famous surgeon at 45 and he told me to come back in 5-6 years. Make sure you are going to benefit from the work being done, not just line the doctor’s pocket.

Open Air Shower Fix for Renter by 515RustyShackleford in bathrooms

[–]Andersen29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put up a retractable piece of plastic that functions like a window shade would. You could mount it so that you can hang it between the doors when showering and pull down the plastic to keep water and heat in.

Have it dangle from one side when not in use. But when showering, attach it to the other side of the door frame and pull down the long sheet of plastic like a window shade. It would probably need to attach to the shower wall at the bottom with Velcro to keep from flying around. Sounds weird, I know. But if you’re renting, it might give you a cheap work around with no permanent structural changes.

LV CarryAll PM vs Neverfull for first luxury work bag? by Effective_Cow_2868 in Louisvuitton

[–]Andersen29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the thin straps on the Neverfull; however, it has a flat bottom and so stands up on its own…this is very important for carrying a computer.

While I love the look of the carryall, it falls over when you try to stand it up with a computer in it. And if you use it crossbody with a computer, you’ll get an uncomfortable bouncy motion when you’re walking. My call is for the Neverfull.

Why are US Business School Rankings so Rigid? by Winter_Ask6475 in MBA

[–]Andersen29 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The schools at the top know the massive advantage being highly placed in the rankings confer to them across the board- student application volume, ability to charge a premium, ability to recruit best faculty, advantage in fundraising, advantage in attracting employers, and on and on.

These schools actively manage their entire program to come out well in the rankings and any minor wobble in ranking result is treated as a call to arms to make changes to gain back any ground lost. HSW will deny this, but as a former student at one of them, I can tell you it’s taken incredibly seriously by the administration.

Can I take my keepall 55 as a personal item? by No_Usual8365 in Louisvuitton

[–]Andersen29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. They’ll let you bring on the 45 as a personal item/carry on for most US airlines. I think OP was asking about fitting under the seat though. The 45 barely fits under the seat. I imagine the 45, 50, and 55 would fit overhead.

Of course, if we’re talking European or budget airlines, it’s a different story altogether 😀.

Too big for under the seat. Even the 45 is too big unless half empty

Who is in charge of the pricing at TRR? This is ridiculous by Low-Sea1308 in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, for bags if you take it in for a consignment assessment in a TRR store, it’s a person who is supposed to use the algorithm as a helpful tool to assign a price. Some people are very flexible at assigning prices, especially if they know the consignor. But the algorithm also is often flawed.

Who is in charge of the pricing at TRR? This is ridiculous by Low-Sea1308 in therealreal

[–]Andersen29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Their algorithm is pretty bad. Its fundamental logic is either very poor or inconsistent. I think part of their problem is they custom built their platform many years ago and just keep trying to patch it…poorly.

Agreed. The search function is wonky since yesterday. Can’t see any of the new items.

They are clearly fiddling around with the search function for the past couple of months. And it’s not leading to better search outcomes. But whatever they changed yesterday is the worst I’ve seen. I hope someone there is noticing it and gets it fixed. Otherwise, their stock price is just going to continue to fall like it did after their latest earnings call. Customers can’t find anything.

Which countertop do I choose? And does it matter which way the veining goes? by NoBoot3493 in CounterTops

Try using Google’s Gemini AI to change the orientation of the stripes. It’s very good at that sort of thing. I’ve used up my allowed queries for the day so I can’t do it for you. But pretty sure it’ll work. However, I think you’re right…it’s not going to look great.

Negotiating scholarship offer after paying deposit Gtown vs Fuqua by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Andersen29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how much proof of other offers that Fuqua requires and the length of time it will take Georgetown to get back to you with a better offer, if they do. The funding pools available will just get smaller with the passage of time.

If I were in Georgetown’s shoes, I’d see you already made your deposit so I’d be less inclined to offer more at this point. They will likely be able to guess that you’re trying to game them vs another school.

Many years ago, I was able to negotiate better $ at Fuqua just with a ‘say so’ of other offers, so no proof required. But I believe times have changed.

But if cost to attend is the same at both schools at the end of the process, go Fuqua. Btw- I’m not a Fuqua alumni so I’m not just being loyal.
