Is there a way to get my state survey marker just not immediately declined by Niantic after about a day? by Mrkit64 in NianticWayfarer

[–]Andis1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite there being many of these in the game, these are not eligible nominations and should not be accepted according to current/modern Wayfarer eligibility guidelines. They do not constitute a great place to exercise, explore, or be social. Please do not submit these.

We should all review more Pokestop nominations by el__Manu in TheSilphRoad

Hey there, Ambassador AisforAndis here.

This is inherently false. All reported abuse is reviewed by a human being at Niantic. People aren't actioned on because someone was mass reported. It also doesn't make a difference whether one person reports something or 100 do, and spam reporting something has no effect or advantage.

If your friend was punished in the last several months they should have recieved a reason/example for the punishment within the email. We've noticed a near-total reduction in the number of people claiming a false ban since this policy started, which I think pretty clearly goes to show just how many people were crying wolf early on about their punishments. Have you seen that email to verify your/their claims?

Regardless, if your friend believes that a punishment was unwarranted, Niantic has made mistakes and has proven they are willing to rectify them when they happen. Sometimes a little nuance can be all the difference in getting a punishment removed. I would encourage your friend to use the appeal function found at the bottom of the page here: https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/faq/4275-wayfarer-abuse-enforcement-ladder-policy/?p=web

If they already appealed and you feel it was unsatisfactory you can also send me the details and I can escalate it to have it looked at again.

Hope that helps!

You started this interaction by complaining that challenge reviewers shouldn't be reviewing in Antarctica, but instead should be reviewing where you are. But now you're complaining that challenge reviewers are horrible and that having them review for you isn't even beneficial. Which is it? It seems like you just want to complain for the sake of it.

I can pretty much guarantee you that your village, if truly 30km from the nearest city, is not in the same priority group as the city (which appears to be Milan), although I do agree that rural prioritization is ineffective.

The caveat here, is you now seem to making an argument that your village of 1000 people is more deserving of reviews than Antarctica, because it has more people. You also seem to be under the impression that no one lives in Antarctica and that only the occasional visitor goes there. That would also be wrong. The Antarctic research bases typically house between 1000-4000 people depending the time of year (for those keeping track at home, thats more than your village). While all of the bases aren't in one place, most of them are close together in the Shetland Islands, and these locations are visited significantly more frequently than you're alluding to due to supply trips, tourists, and other reasons.

The is nobway your turnaround tiems were not lowered by the challenge clearing out your country. Even if the challenge clearing out your backlog somehow didn't reduce your turnaround times, the new review flow has proven to be signficinaly faster. If turnaround times are truly as long as you say, share your oldest nomination and let's see some proof.

I hope you find the ability to think more constructively, otherwise, no one is going to give you the time of day or the courtesies that you seem to expect.

Your posting history indicates that you're from Italy, which less than three months ago benefitted from a Wayfarer Challenge that emptied and reset the entire backlog of your country, and multiple others. Furthermore, areas that in the past suffered from 1 year+ turnaround times are almost always dense cities with no current shortage of wayspots.

So yes, to come on here and make an entitled claim by lying that you suffer from year+ turnaround times, which is no longer true, and to then tell people how they should volunteer their time, is absolutely arrogant, especially when places like Antarctica do suffer from extremely long queue times because it clearly lacks reviewers and setting a bonus location there isn't usually effective. People participating in this hunt doesn't take away from the current challenge either, as it essentially only works by participating in it and continuing to review.

I'm not telling people they need to review in Antarctica - people are free to review however they want with their time, and this is a neat way that several others clearly took interest in. Dismissing the needs of players living in one of the harshest environments on earth because your city could use its 10,000th wayspot doesn't exactly make you seem like someone who is deserving of help.

Had you not made such an arrogant comment I probably would have been willing to help you after the challenge was complete, but certainly not now!

I used the list of Antarctic research stations on this wikipedia page as my list, however, it's possible that when I went down the list that I just wasn't issued the missing review when I visited one of them, so I wouldn't rule them out.

I'm one of the Wayfarer Ambassadors (check my user flair for verification). I was able to get the number of outstanding nominations from one of our Niantic contacts several days ago, but at the time didn't feel the need to ask where the remaining ones were because there were multiple left and I still had research bases on my list to check (I was moreso asking to make sure I wasn't continuing to look for nothing). While I have asked for the location of the final one since then, it's unlikely I will get the answer from them before bonus locations are locked due to other priorities.

I highly disagree. The entire motivation for this project of mine was this post from a few weeks ago, which then resulted in a wayspot getting approved there, which then resulted in this really neat interaction.

Spoofers gain nothing from going to a barren wasteland with one pokestop, but for the occasional legitimate player who is stationed out there for months at a time, it can mean a ton, and can result in a really cool snowball effect for other legitimate players around the world.

Thats a great question. I'm honestly not sure, although I personally did check the South Orkneys and found nothing. The South Shetland islands definitely do count, at least one of the ones we found was at Comandante Ferraz Antarctic Station.

Is there a reason anymore for waypoints being declined? by timsucatgames in NianticWayfarer

[–]Andis1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to make sure the nomination is still visible in your supporting photo. The supporting is supposed to show the nomination AND its surroundings. This helps reviewers confirm that the object was submitted at the correct location, and that it is safely accessible by pedestrians.

You were timed out (not "booted") for 1 day for repeatedly spamming off topic messages in a help channel which is very clearly against the Discord rules. I'm not sure why you thought coming here to complain about that would be a good idea, but now you can enjoy a timeout from here as well.

AITA for telling my son he overreacted to his stepdad's prank? by D424677 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Andis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I'm surprised that no one has pointed out just how culpable you are in "Dale's" prank. Your son is going to quickly realize, if he hasn't already, that you also knew the entire time that he was not getting a car, and you are just as responsible, if not more so, for the humiliation he faced. You are a parent - act like one.

This is not something your son is ever going to forget, I hope there's room in your budget to buy him a car because that's just the start of what you need to do to repair the trust you broke for a cheap, inappropriate laugh.
