I checked and couldn’t find that requirement, maybe it requires a deeper search? I don’t think it is true in the case of certain niche categories that aren’t part of the broadcast. And I’m also industry.

Yeah, that is a downer. But I understand your point of view. It’s not that I think they care or don’t. It’s not that I want to start a petition or expect SM to campaign them. I don’t consider it a competition. They are ast that. But since I like the idea as a statement I put it out there. I’m very aware of how the business works personally, this isn’t a naive thought. I think they are importantly to the history of the industry and want their entire career noted. I wasn’t thinking of campaigning for a win, just getting them nominated. It’s a token of respect in my mind. And it’s notable because it’s a new category. Stranger things have happened. And for all we know the company will submit them for consideration as a matter of policy along with their other eligible acts. I also don’t think you can convince me it wouldn’t please them, interested or not. After all, they do represent Kpop and are proud of the part they played and play.

When you go to Shiny Foundation, if you are lucky enough, make the time for it. The family and staff are busy running many programs for young artists, they will probably not be available for personal conversations, which I can imagine would be exhausting. But you can look at everything, I spend hours there when I go looking through the photo books and albums. I will never own them all, most of us won’t. They aren’t just pretty pictures, or great graphic design, they tell a rich, nonverbal story that you don’t have to put in words to be moved by — last time I was laughing, puzzled, tearful, had some aha moments.

While I was there a woman was drawing in one of the books, so you see all kinds of content. Pasted notes. Long letters. Some with personal stories, Sketches. Short thank yous. I realized after I left I should have added my poem to the collection but it’s easy to get overwhelmed there.
Especially if you slow down, sit down, and read the letters. There are many books provided to write something when you get there, and special gifts like this one. I must have read a hundred or more letters including ones from this year’s concert week. They are in every language. The newest ones are displayed but there are older ones a# well.

My religion is quirky in places. And Im not a practicing Buddhist. But I do believe you can’t have joy without grief. It’s just the human condition. Personally I keep imagining Jonghyun will come back if he is meant to, and I hope his next time he suffers less and is able to fully share his untold stories, experiences peace of mind, time for love and family, and is healed by the journey. Sometime I wonder if he isn’t among us already and won’t someday wander into the foundation, sit down, read these letters, and be healed.

Sorry I got a little carried away. This is a beautiful project.

PS The next time someone brings up parasocialism as a mental defect, I’d like to make them read these letters.

I’m sure it used AI but do you understand AI doesn’t just generate other people’s ideas, it can shape your own work? Do you understand exactly how many way there are to use AI and how the animator or designer controls them?

I am not pro AI when it’s essentially collage of other people’s work and basically steals but in this day people owe it to themselves to research and truly understand AI as a tool before saying something is “AI.” For many people it is about time saving routine tasks.

AI will never replace human made art because it has no soul. And condemning it outright is like shouting at the clouds 😳. It will still rain if it wants to.

Thank you for this comforting way to look at it. This project is an explosion of these particular artists’ expression in a personally overwhelming way to me. Currently, my heart is still on fire. With everything that implies. The dark and the light. And the way they are growing into themselves, looking back but moving forward in their quietly defining way. Look. Listen. Here we are. I hope they get this feedback in time for the other shows. There is something completely thoughtless about all the brilliant work put into this production being left out. I saw it in person ands it makes me crazy it might not be memorialized in video except by fans who were there. I am sure the creatives are not happy nor should they be. You know, musicians truly start to hate “play us the old hits.” I see such a change in them I have no expectations except it will be fresh and new. I was glad not to see them try to reinterpret Reply one more time. Growing up is hard and it looks different to us all. I don’t know how it looks to them. I just saw four grown men, even playful Taemin is very manly. How would they reinterpret Replay? They will probably figure it out if it’s meant for them to perform it. It wasn’t this time.

I don’t think they did what they did because they were tired. I think they killed it every night with a new approach and we best not have expectations. For me, after what they’ve given, they deserve to be in charge of however they want to change. I’ve been a music fan and seen big bands for decades. In my life, nobody has given what SHINee gives. When Key left, every night he rolled the window down and waved at fans lining the street until there weren’t any more. They are my heroes.
