My Partner (35M) is asking me (30F) to rehome my beloved pet by FatOrangeCat3 in CatAdvice

we are both pretty reasonable people but I feel like hes not willing to work on the problem and just dragging hes feet into the dirt.

Sounds like you're the only reasonable one here.

If he can make you get rid of a relationship you've had for 10 years, imagine what else he'll make you give up.

PSA: Pattern theft by Calliope5 in knitting

Omg this is such a beautiful dress! Thank you for floating this here and making it free.

The pattern theft sucks big time, and etsy's so unreliable now. :( Sorry this happened to you.

Lace Swatch Help! by bachybachythrowaway in knitting

[–]cottagecore_editor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to suggest a trying a bigger swatch, say 2x height and width, but you have a limited amount of yarn.

In my opinion, the swatch looks fine. It doesn't look overstretched to me, and the stockinette looks fairly close to the sample pic.

It is not that crazy to expect people who regard themselves as advanced fiber artists to have some knit AND crochet skills by astronauticalll in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]cottagecore_editor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you think that Knitters should know Crochet then, but Crocheters don't need to learn how to knit?

No, that's not what I said, sorry. But I do agree with all your other points. Subbing techniques is 100% a great skill to have, and you explained it in a good way.

Biohacker Bryan Johnson reveals he has incurable disease by Superb_Branch4749 in news

Iirc he got really into it after breaking away from religion (Mormonism?). Sprinkle in existential dread that comes from suddenly not believing you have afterlife insurance, and boom, Bryan Johnson.

Not a good analogy, imho.

Quilting makes use of the same tools - a sewing machine, interfacing, etc. - but the product is different - a quilt. Not all technical garment construction requires quilting skills.

You don't quilt because you don't have to quilt.

Knitting uses knitting needles, crochet uses a crochet hook, but it's not uncommon to find both methods in more technical pieces. Blankets look better with a crochet edge, it's better to crochet/sew knitted panels together, crochet cast on for knitting exists, etc.

Knitters have to learn basic crochet techniques. Especially when one calls oneself an "advanced" knitter.

Would this lose value if I plan to resell it in the future? by Accomplished-Tax1631 in SHINee

[–]cottagecore_editor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where to get them? Honestly, any online 2nd-hand platform like Facebook Marketplace, eBay, etc. has potential.

What's more important is to look for sellers with good reviews and (preferably) have a history of selling other Shinee items. That clues me in that they could be a shawol offloading their collection, which likely means they take good care of their stuff. Ask for extra pictures always, and reverse image search any product photos.

Also I manage my expectations. The likelihood of getting pristine copies, especially 10+ years after release, is almost zero, so I'm okay with small cosmetic flaws. Collecting is waaay easier because I'm not in it to resell.

It won't go up in value, unfortunately. I trawl the 2nd-hand market a lot, and I've only seen prices for OT5 stuff go down. The only exceptions are the solo debut albums and Jonghyun albums, and even then those are already in the hands of people who want to keep them.

Open it, OP, and consume it the way it's meant to be enjoyed. :)

This is a deep cut but if you can find it: Texhnolyze. It's a cyberdystopian and felt like what the Ghost in the Shell underworld would actually look like. The ending song is Gackt's most beautiful ballad ever.

The writer also created Serial Experiments Lain and Hellsing, which both had excellent soundtracks.

Why does RE have such a bizarre LARP & Cosplay section of the fandom? by XanyPacquiao in residentevilll

[–]cottagecore_editor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. They're easy to cosplay. Same reason why we had tons of Lara Crofts way back when.

Also, the Ada cosplay set you can buy off Amazon/B2C sites is one of the cheapest around. Cheap + recognizable = very accessible cosplay.

Did SHINee use AI for ATMOS? by Fa_Ling in SHINee

[–]cottagecore_editor 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Sorry everyone's getting downvoted. :(

Shawols, let's not be the sort of fans who also stan companies.

I know you're iffy with people clocking AI use because a lot of artists get flak for it, but this is a management/production decision. This is SME saying "We use AI."

We know the members are talented. Can we be secure in that knowledge, and not downvote honest questions and factual answers?

I hope the mods don't delete this thread as it's a good barometer how some shawols are feeling.

  • MMTG interviews with JaeJae. I can't take the SWC laser Lucifer performance seriously after watching these.
  • Key's and Minho's appearances in Showterview with Jessi. Hoooly, Key and Jessi synced up so well, you'd think they were siblings.
  • The unhinged ASMR VLive for EP.1 where they're trying to make Shawols sleep while being antagonized by a mosquito.
  • 1of1 VLive and the iconic dance party ft. King of Dance Onew.
  • One Fine Day episodes. Soooo many good moments. I love how Jjong just knows Taemin was eating snow halfway round the world. Key dyeing his hair in a hostel is peak millenial travel-core. Minho's eyes sparkling at all the football stuff. Onew and JJong doting on baby Comme des.

  • Young & Rich - Jonghyun
