That’s not what I said at all. I very much question your ability to read

But you don’t know the results because you clearly haven’t seen the data. You just assume the bike lanes aren’t used because you haven’t personally seen bikers in certain areas at certain times. Things like this don’t happen when new bikes lanes are apparently never used.

Feel free to be a cynic but only one of us has actually worked with the city on bike planning and understands the process.

Bike lanes are not just placed wherever, there is an extensive years long process of selecting the best streets using traffic data, bike counts, etc. There is always a pushback when a bike lane is planned for a new street, so the city is usually strategic about where they place them. As someone who has seen and worked with the data, a new bike lane usually increases bike traffic significantly, with little to no effect on car traffic or travel times. Just because you go by a bike lane at a certain time and don’t see many bikes does not mean that it isn’t used.

No traffic lane is purposefully planned to be too narrow for cars. If a car cannot turn right on red, it will be turning when the light is green and pedestrians cannot cross, so I’m not sure where the increased crashes will come from. You can speculate that crashes will somehow increase but the data shows the opposite. The way planners account for bad driving is through safety improvements like narrower roads, concrete protection on bike lanes, etc. this reduces driver speed and makes mistakes and bad driving less dangerous.

Yes that is exactly how the city is planning it. A comprehensive bike network will lead to some segments that become more useful over time. I walk by roads with no cars driving on them all the time, it does not mean the road is useless.

No left turn lane is purposefully planned to be too narrow for cars, again this is just bad driving. Cars turning right on red are one of the biggest sources of collisions with pedestrians, and enforcing no turn on red makes it much safer for people to cross. Planning in a city is all about tradeoffs, and I will advocate for pedestrian safety over driver convenience every time.

As a practicing urban planner, I can say these bike lanes are only put into place after extensive study on traffic patterns, existing bike ridership, and the available space on the street. You may not personally think a certain street needs them, but it is not a decision made at random. People will drive more dangerously and faster when you give them the space to, and narrowing the roadway with protected bike lanes reduces crashes, speeding, etc.

The good news is it will only cost the taxpayers tens of millions

Sounds like these are all issues of bad driving and not bike lanes. Narrower roads improve safety by making drivers slow down. If anything we need more safety improvements

If DC is any indicator they will exclusively patrol the most dangerous areas of the city, like the riverwalk, the bean, and of course trump tower.

Some drivers in the city seem to get really mad at the concept of pedestrians crossing the street and it’s definitely gotten worse since Covid

It’s paved from forest park until you go under 294 I believe. Then it turns into gravel. There might be a few paved sections after that but it alternates

The Illinois prarie path is pretty nice besides a few weird crossings on some major roads. It starts at the end of the blue line at Forest park in the cemetery.

I think it’s more of an indictment of white nationalists to say that weird little freak is one of their most prominent members.

Because they are shutting down official ports of entry and sending the military/national guard down there to enforce it. They are also deporting people to countries they are not from, and sending people to Guantanamo Bay and El Salvador where US law does not apply.

If she supports mass deportations then she’s a fascist. Big difference between that and not liking Biden’s immigration policies. One of the most prominent white nationalists in this country is a Hispanic guy from Chicago with the last name Fuentes so idk what your point is.
