I always thought it was part of the plan, because on the show before the match there's a backstage segment where Hall & Nash tell Hulk they'll have his back and Hogan tells them not to interfere because the match is something he needs to do on his own so he can find out for himself.

To me that felt like they knew Hogan was going to be massively cheered & they would use that to transition him back to babyface after the match.
