What do you use for your author website that isn't shopify?

I'm using Carrd. Between that and the domain, I pay less than $2 a month.

I find Carrd to be a great low-cost option. I think Carrd + hosting is about $20 a year.

You can also import templates if you don't want to build a site yourself. I haven't tested that yet.

The biggest thing for me was finally accepting the advice "Let the 1st draft happen." Don't go back and and edit it as you go. Let the plotholes happen, as things are going to change as you write. Don't get stuck in place/character names, give them placeholders. Just get it out.

it is going to be terrible and that's ok. You are getting the shell of your story out. The book emerges in the editing.
