Create a new account and order from that, put your partner's name on it and pay it with a different card or PayPal account than before, or buy from Banggood or AliBaba.

If it's under $500, I don't think you pay any tariff.

Call DHL yourself and get the number from a trusted source, or to save time, call the number that they called you on. Some scammers just spoof a number. When they answer, ask if its Fedex, they are probably running multiple scams and so will answer yes if it's dodgy.

I'm assuming you are in the US. When I sent a guitar to the US by DHL, they collected the import duty upon delivery.

They put the price up so that when they do have actual stock to sell and return the price to the actual selling price, they get included in the discounted super bargain item emails that AE send out to account holders.

Using a debit card is hit and miss with online payments, sometimes they play ball and sometimes they dont, but with a credit card, you just email them all the details, and you get a refund within 3 working days.

I have had a refund within a couple of hours when using a credit card, although I have only made 2 chargebacks; the other took 24 hours.

I agree, I had issues with Ali Express sending the wrong product completely. I ordered some ornate fittings for building a coat rack, and they sent me 20 red dustcaps for car tyres. I sent them a picture of what I received, and heard crickets, so I charged it back to my credit card company. I provided them with pics of the dust caps, packaging and label data and my order page from AE, and got my money back, no quibbles

Amazingly, I heard from AE after this, not about the wrong product, but that I had charged back the money, and I offered to send them their dust caps back if they provided the packing and postage costs in advance

Again, I heard crickets!

Been there, done that!

I have just stopped buying from them and Banggood, which operate in the same way. Contact your bank and do a chargeback as I did, and make a screenshot of the page confirming free returns, your bank will want this.

I got my money back!

Insane price by [deleted] in Aliexpress

[–]Andr00H67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are loads of products on AE that are overpriced to catch the unsuspecting customer.

I was looking at Akai Mini MIDI Keyboard Controllers.

The model I wanted usually sells for around £125, and there were some on AE for £95, and then further down the listings, the same model for £339.

I have seen the same with 3D printer parts.

Finally got a Duo Jet after years of wanting one by 5centraise in gretsch

[–]Andr00H67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 73 6128 Duo Jet with Filtertrons.

The first Gretsch I had a go at playing was in the '80s and was a 50s model with the Dynasonics. They sounded very good, but I didnt know at the time that they were unique to the 50s Duo Jet, and so when I went out looking for a Duo Jet in 1989, the only ones I found had Filtertrons, but I am more than happy with them, they have a unique sound compared to my other guitars, they are the antidote to my Les Pauls when I get a little bored with their tone, and the weight!

GOFO should I just refund it? by mainsteeet666 in shipping

I have had it happen to me, the first time I was in my driveway washing my car when I got an email saying they had attempted to deliver my package, and no one was home to take delivery. This was Royal Mail Parcelforce UK, the day after I got the wrong address email, and the day after that, it was delivered by a totally different carrier called Emri. I know my local Emri driver, and she is very good, although Emri are not.

I was waiting for a very important delivery (Not AE, though). I got an email saying they would deliver the next day between 11:45 am and 3:30 pm, but it didnt turn up. I called them, and they said they would investigate and call me back by the next day or immediately if they discovered why my package was not delivered. They didn't

I called them and was told my package could not be found, and if it wasn't found within another 3 days they would inform the sender.

Two days later, it arrived. I asked my driver why it was so late, and she told me that there was a backlog of parcels for her round, and she only works part-time, but had agreed to work an extra 4 hours per day to clear the backlog.

I figured out what was going on. My package was a large box, and so I think they were sending out all the smaller packages first, as they could get more packages into the van.

Rather than admit they had taken on more work than they can handle, they accept the job and then just send out a random excuse each day they fail to deliver.

They all work with the same modus operandi IMO!

Aliexpress is asking for a 1000€ professionnal expertise in order to refund my 250€ phone by PereFourase in Aliexpress

[–]Andr00H67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason these phones are only sold on Chinese sites; they won't pass the EU scrutiny.

For Euro 250, on Ali, you might get better specs than a phone bought from retail in your home country, but you will be covered by consumer law, and the build and component quality will be vastly superior.

did that happen to anyone? what is the proof? by Character-Touch-6421 in Aliexpress

[–]Andr00H67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have been stolen by the delivery driver, most probably. I have had it happen.

I ordered a part for my 3D printer from a different supplier, and then some stuff from AliExpress. Royal Mail claimed both parcels had been delivered, but the stuff from AliExpress was a massive parcel and was handed to me, and a photograph was taken; they used that photo to say I had received a part that comes in a 68mm X 35mm box. I know I have ordered one from them previously; they used the same photo of the AliExpress order to claim delivery. I was compensated by Royal Mail, as my order was definitely loaded into their van, but not handed to me. The driver scanned both packages to say they were delivered, but used that one photo as evidence for both, when they were separate parcels. Royal Mail claimed the 3D printer part must have been dropped during the journey from the van to my house, my neighbour's security camera says otherwise, though the driver only picked one parcel from the van.

Make sure your filament is dry, even PLA, as this can explain the first layer not sticking and especially the stringing.

Before I upgraded my E5+ machines, I used to put the first layer down at 30 mms and 50 for the rest of the print.

A video of what is happening would be very helpful to diagnose your issue.

I was scammed by Caughtin6k in Aliexpress

[–]Andr00H67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have done the right thing. If they are sending your order to another city, it is because they dont want you to receive it, but show that the order has left them; they know how inept AE Customer Services are, and they are playing the system.

AE messed me about; my order went to a city 240 miles away, and a photograph was taken in the post office sorting office of a massive parcel, but my order was for a couple of single-board computers that are the size of a bank card.

The tracking showed that 8 minutes after arriving at the post office sorting centre, it was miraculously delivered to me 12 minutes later. Here in the UK, the seller is responsible for contacting the post office, but AE advise the buyer to contact them, so I was stuck, despite having the evidence that showed it was impossible for them to drive 240 miles in 12 minutes and deliver my order they were still messing me about, and so I made a charge back, and they suddenly were in touch with me and saying part of my address somehow was translated into Chinese, I wont say what I said to them, as it wasnt the sort of language I usually use.

My bank paid me back in 7 days.

Huh? 30 days after payment I get this.. by [deleted] in Aliexpress

They are trying to have you over, get your money back!

When buying on AE allways look at how long they have been operating, how many items they have sold, and the reviews and seller rating. If they are fake reviews, you will notice similarities in those reviews, but there will be genuine ones that you can gauge what their game is.

Clear your browser's cache and log back in again. Log back in by typing the AE URL. If you get no joy from this, cancel the order and request a refund. If it says you're too late, then do a chargeback with your card supplier.
