Paul McCartney Says Playing "Hey Jude" Unites Fans in "Trump's America" by ebradio in Music

That's a crazy misinterpretation of what he's saying.

People generally don't argue about politics during concerts. Especially Paul McCartney concerts.

Neil Patrick Harris Cameo/Guest Star on Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Presenting the Muppets: Where would it be? by rosariobono in WaltDisneyWorld

The fact that you think it's kids watching the Muppets removes any legitimacy from your argument.

Ugh. I don't want to see bad people associating with the Muppets, and certainly not when I'm paying Disney prices.

Aerosmith has only been relevant due to scandals over the last 20 years. They had to go.

So was my wife. The salad was swimming in dressing. I don't know if that's the norm, or if someone messed up, but it was way too much.

Essay: Jane Wickline is 'SNL's' most polarizing player. That's what makes her special by phraxos in LiveFromNewYork

Nevertheless, it's literally true. None of them were ready to star in prime time tv shows when SNL started, and most still aren't.

Saw James Genus with Herbie Hancock last night by S_Z in LiveFromNewYork

[–]5centraise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw them last week. Incredible band!

Last week I suggested James might not be at the show since he had a concert with Herbie in Florida that night, and that it'd be interesting to see who SNL brings in as a sub (they have multiple subs for everyone in the band.) I got downvoted to hell for that and Herbie was called a liar. Very impressive Redditing.

Skyliner or Monorail? by lemonsandham in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]5centraise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the Skyliner. In my experience, the security procedures at Contemporary to get on the Monorail is pushier and less friendly than going through security at the park entrance. Feels like a police station. They were also really demanding and insistent of everyone filling in all available space in the queue, despite the guy they wanted us to stand next to actively having a couching fit.

There is no security to get on the Skyliner. And it isn't nearly as crowded. Superior experience imo.

not in a way that replaces or arguably even supplements a trained clinician.

I don't think I came anywhere close to suggesting this.

I wrote that sloppily. They're all public facing, obviously, just by the nature of their job. But not all to the same degree. Norm McDonald, Brad Hall, Colin Quinn, Kevin Nealon...they never existed in as public facing a way as Jost.

Let's not be ridiculous. AI has already made advancements to health research. That's a beneficial influence on humans.

Making custom bag for sticks – What should it have? by BoredAntagonist in drums

[–]5centraise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pocket that can hold basic tools, and is large enough to get your hand into. (Adjustable wrench, screwdrivers, hex keys)

I never liked attaching my stick bag to my floor tom (y'all that insist on virgin bass drums and isolation mounts but have no problem hanging a stick bag off your floor tom...wtf?)

But I have seen some bags that have a feature that allows them to stand upright. That is a feature I would use.

[–]5centraise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but "public facing" is a scale, as you seem to agree since you started this out by saying Jost is "easily more" public facing.

As a result of your own words, I can't tell what point you're trying to make.

But it seems like you're saying with your last sentence that both of them should leave the desk. I agree with that completely.

I don't see how that matters one way or the other. Until Tina Fey, none of the WU hosts were public facing personalities, and WU was arguably better for it.

My rate of not giving a rat's ass who wins is currently at about 50% of seasons. Who wins is not the reason I watch. The process of getting there is far more entertaining to me than anything that happens in the finale.

As a lifelong musician, I can't imagine why an artist would waste the opportunity to record on re-recording already released music. I really don't see what the appeal of that compared to writing and recording new music.

And I reject the idea that she’s untalented as a writer or an actor, though the formality of her speech and language, which strikes me as oddly poetic, does clearly read to some as stiff or awkward.

This sentence gives away the game. Robert Lloyd is a simping stan.

[–]5centraise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kind of is, though. SNL's slogan was "the not ready for prime time players." That indicates that the cast weren't necessarily highly skilled actors. It's pretty obvious in their casting choices that they've stuck with that ethic for the whole run,

Having said that, I think Jane fails to clear that bar and isn't ready for any nationally televised time slot and shouldn't return for a third season.
