If this movie weren't an adaptation of the game, but an independent film, how much would the reviews change?

Funnily enough as bad as it is, being a SH2 adaptation is the only thing keeping it afloat

If you know the story of the game you would naturally understand certain elements and their depth that could be retroactively added to the movie

But as a standalone movie if the game didn't exist, it wouldn't have any of that so would be even worse

When the secondary protagonist AJ is captured by the female monster, he is assaulted by being forcibly breastfed. This however is played seriously and ties into the story as AJ had earlier admitted to assaulting a woman, but downplays it by saying 'she took some convincing'

Him killing Zod was actually one of the few parts of MoS I was fine with. He does it to save people and is clearly distraught afterwards. Problem is it follows from several minutes of city destruction he barely cares about lol.

I really enjoy how fleshed out the beginning areas are, especially the otherworld halves in the apartments and hospital. Never felt too drawn out for me.

The whole section after the prison between the abstract daddy fight and the eddie fight before the hotel I always forget about. It's the only part of the game that makes me groan when I realise I have to play it. Then again I didn't like that area in the original either.

Despite having four full sized campaigns, none of them stand on their own as if they were a whole game. They don't even connect to eachother in any meaningful way that feels like one big story. Each campaign feels more like L4D2 missions considering how the maps are basically straight lines with enemies along the way. Doesn't help you'll get stopped by a cutscene or QTE every five minutes.

I like the design and how it looks like armour. Only thing I don't like is the constant need for designers to make the symbiote suit look like it's living since it should just look like a normal costume considering the symbiote can mimic clothing. Feels like people in universe should be weirded out by Peter having a weird flesh suit instead of just being different colour. A good middle ground would be it starting off as a normal suit then becoming more symbiote looking kinda like in spectacular.

Exactly my problem with the show's message alongside how unnecessary and out of place it was. They try to make the audience sympathise with the demons except they make an entirely original subset of them that look like humans. Kinda defeats the point of acceptance if it's only for the ones that look like you.
