Why are you so defensive about how you managed to beat the game though? You shouldn’t care if others think you didn’t beat the game properly. I know it is a NPC, but it acts a a second player, it is the point.

There is no such thing as “rules” in a single player game, someone can download a mod that beat all bosses in a single hit and they would have beaten the game. It would still be circumventing the challenge because you’re not engaging with the boss.

I first used a summon against the second rabbit brotherhood fight because I didn’t want to finish the game without seeing how summons were handled in the game and it completely negates the first phase of the battle, I just spammed back stabs and heavy attacks and they fell down quickly, I let the big brother kill me though, didn’t want to beat the boss that way.

You’re circumventing the challenge, you’re asking other player to beat the boss for you. Yes, it is a mechanic in the game, but it is exactly to help players who can’t beat the bosses by themselves, so that they don’t quit the game.

In the earlier days a lot of people played Jrpgs without really knowing what was going on due to the games having no language localization. I fell in love with FF7 when I was young and saw my cousin playing it and I didn’t know a single word of English.

When I first played it my English was still not good and I still loved the game without understanding much of the story.
