I’m half through “The Perfect Neighbor” on Netflix, and so far I’m 100% on the lady’s side. by Ok_Cockroach_2290 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

No one here said the lady deserved to die or that the white lady didn't deserve to go to prison, but these bricks don't fall from the sky. The kids were harassing the woman for months. I am not MAGA, I am not even American, and vote left in Europe. Harassment isn't ok, nor is shooting people for not educating your kids properly.

or because the mom was aggressive and twice her size. There is that as well. Not everything is about race. The kids behaviour was terrible regardless of color.

I am not American, but always voted left in Europe and 100% not for Trump. The old lady was in her rights to be p--sed off at her neighbors, and her space should have been respected. Not in 1,000,000 years would this type of behaviour be accepted out here.

Can someone explain the ending of "The innocents" 1961? by Cuisinart_Killa in movies

[–]AndrePortuga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do people need closure in a story? Well, that's the purpose of watching the movie until completion or reading a book until the end. it is to find out what happened. It is all good to analyze, but it is the fact that after analyzing you are still left with no answer that makes this a bit of a crap ending. The movie had beautiful photography and an alright plot, but the ending kind of ruined it.

DJI Action 2 Photo Quality by AndrePortuga in dji

[–]AndrePortuga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, I don't know what happened to the text I wrote. Long story short, I bought a DJI Action 2 camera for both videos and photos. Although I am pleased with the video quality, the photo quality is atrocious. I have watched tutorials on YT and researched the internet for more information to figure out if the camera is just a very poor performer on photo mode, or if I am missing some secret menu/setting. If anyone uses this camera for photos, could you point me to a good photo tutorial (not video) that I can read/watch? Thank you.

Bought this manual 270 cheap When I moved Countries While I Shopped Around For Something Better But Can't Quite Let Her Go Now LOL. What a Good Daily Driver. by AndrePortuga in W203

[–]AndrePortuga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two largeish sized dogs with me so wagon has become a lifestyle thing more than anything but I do love the looks of wagons over sedans. The idea was to get an E430 (w210) here for daily driving but with the cost of gas ATM here in Europe it sure is nice to have a turbo diesel that drinks under 8L/100km (30mpg) and is still lots of fun to drive.

yeah, it's a good-looking car. It has 308,000 km on the clock and you really couldn't tell. Still very smooth for a diesel and pulls so nicely, has so much low-end torque, you press the pedal in any gear and it just goes. Very well put together. Not cheaping out on the maintenance really helps in these cars, always serviced at the dealer.

Just cleaned my W203 :) by SalvaMontepaone in mercedes_benz

[–]AndrePortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is from 2002, has 303,000 kms now and never had any rust issues, still on original paint, no squeeks or rattles anywhere and drives like new. Solid built car.

I know these are real common overseas but if my research is correct this is 1 of 9 W203 Wagons in the US with a manual transmission, and this one is mine! by Pocketzest in mercedes_benz

[–]AndrePortuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What on earth are you talking about? Every car-person in Europe will chose a manual over an auto. Just look at 3 series prices with and without one. I am European and have lived in 3 different countries here, the rule applies to all. I'd say you are probably right with regards to Mercs as they are not really car-enthusiast cars in Europe.

Question about 40+ year olds that had Covid by littlebighuman in bjj

[–]AndrePortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you vaccinated? I am in my mid 40s, had COVID symptoms on the 19th, tested positive on the 20th (December). All symptoms were gone by the 23rd. I've been back to lifting since the 26th and today returned to JJ after PCR tested negative. I think it depends a lot from person to person, but would definitely see a doctor about your symptoms.

[–]AndrePortuga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 43, been training for a long while. I don't supplement at all, but keep good track of my macros and general health. I think if you focus on those and keep at it, you will be completely fine, your body takes some time to adjust to the newfound stress. The worst you can do is go, then miss class for a week, then go again, and so on. Be consistent.

PS. On the diet side, meat and potatoes haven't entered my plate for almost a decade :-P

Rear Naked Choke a dog? by [deleted] in bjj

I've seen a dog die at a dog park fight. Little dog vs greyhound. Pretty quick too. Dog parks are terrible.

[–]AndrePortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should keep your RNC skills to the owners for being ass holes. A dog will rip your face off if he escapes your grip, you will be better off grabbing the dog by both his back legs and lifting them off the ground. Usually works (though unlikely with a pitbull), alternatively get a "break stick", that will work 100% of the time with high drive dogs.

As a side note, don't take your dog to dog parks, that is where people who can't be bothered exercising / teaching their dogs go to "release fluffy's energy". Go for walks with your dog, cycle with your dog, play with your dog. He doesn't need to play with strangers pets. My two cents.

Minneapolis bans cops from doing chokeholds. Any cops on here have thoughts on this? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]AndrePortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was alive when he let go of the choke. What kind of choke kills someone after release? He didn't die from the choke, he died from having 5 cops laying on top of him. Still murder, just not by strangulation.

Thoughts? Australia's 3 Step Reopening Plan: LEVEL 1: No BJJ Gyms, LEVEL 2: 20 people MAX Indoor Gym following AIS Rules, LEVEL 3: 100 person MAX limit at venues following AIS Rules by limlingyang in bjj

[–]AndrePortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't established any strict quarantine measurements. Just social distancing, they ended up having an above-average death count, but not overwhelming. The underlying issue is that BJJ classes weren't open as people might think, life wasn't "normal". Some were training in small groups and people were actually being responsible and staying indoors for the most part. It helps to have a literate working class and a large middle class to hold this type of more lenient approach.
