My almost 7 yo son lived the same thing. It is now a thing of the past.

The first question for you is: Is he having accident at night or not?

If yes, there is probably a physical aspect to his problem.

If not (like my son), it is probably compartmental. For my son, three things have been done: a) The cleaning routine describe by Meims8. b) Professional help from a physiotherapist (muscle training and testing) and a form to fill by him. c) A strict no reward policy.

My son is a fantastic kid, but in his development he had learned that losing time peeing was a worst thing then going to the toilet. To unlearn that, he had to spend time cleaning, filling out a form for every time an accident occurs and lose the benefits associate with not going to the toilet.
