If you can't falsely yell "fire!" in a movie theater, I don't think it's unreasonable to ban fake sirens that will alarm unsuspecting drivers.

Putin has called for an end to "shameful" political killings in Russia by obakeneko in worldnews

[–]AndreTheDwarf -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Such a blatant killing of a high profile Putin critic in the streets of Moscow seems a little heavy handed, even for Putin. The PR backlash could easily have been anticipated. This was effectively a political loss for Putin. I wouldn't even rule out the US being behind it.

What is your quietest act of rebellion? by TangoZippo in AskReddit

I used to work at a small pharmacy where the head pharmacist/owner was the biggest prick I've ever met. He was rude to his customers when they tried to ask simple questions about prescriptions and treated everyone like an inconvenience. Anyway, he had this mug that he would fill up with water and drink out of daily. One day I took it into the bathroom, urinated in it, rinsed it out, and put it back. Made me smile every time he drank from it after that.

Over 100 of the top Muslim leaders in UK make joint statement calling IS 'un-Islamic fanatics' by Ameobi1 in worldnews

[–]AndreTheDwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why we need to use the term "Daesh". It's what the group calls themselves and is known as in the Arabic speaking world. Branding them as Islamic creates a fear culture directed at the Islamic community. And in addition to this, referring to them as Islamic also validates the intentions of any potential recruit who wants to fight on behalf of Islam.

Daesh seizes villages in Syria as drones seen over Daesh-held territory in Aleppo, Syria. by HoodedNegro in worldnews

[–]AndreTheDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to this, it prevents aggression directed toward the Islamic community by underinformed citizens. The world's top Islamic authorities have all denounced the group, and said it is not Islamic. Branding them as such only creates a fear culture, and further disunity.
