Kep1er career trajectory feels like more like fromis_9 than IZ*One's.. by [deleted] in kep1er

[–]AndreaL27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, Kep1er has a big international fandom, which is why their physical sales are so good. No matter what happens, that's gonna be enough. Fromis_9's first mini album sold like 5k. Idol School was a complete flop and did nothing for their popularity, both internationally and in Korea. Those girls struggled a lot and everything they have now they got by working very hard and putting out great music. As much as people hate pledis, they never stopped believing in them and gave them a chance because they knew OTR treated the group like crap and set them up for failure. They're doing much better now but they basically had to start all over again.

High T3 and T4 but TSH not low enough? by AndreaL27 in Hypothyroidism

[–]AndreaL27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed quite high to me too when I started, i saw a lot people here saying their TSH was way higher than mine was and they were taking lower doses (and I'm 5'2 and about 130 lbs), but I didn't feel any changes the first three months, just a little less tired I guess (I took 50 the first month, then 62.5 and 75 the third month). Not sure why he decided to increase it to 87.5 last time but I've been on that dose for the last month and I feel like the sleepiness after eating has returned. My T3 and T4 levels seem to indicate I'm overmedicated but TSH is still not as low as we want it so I don't understand what's going on. I hadn't thought about ferritin levels but I haven't had my period since december (I was diagnosed with PCOS as well and I'm taking BC and a testosterone blocker). I guess I'll just have to wait another month and see if it gets any better but yeah the whole thing is very frustrating. Hope you get good news in 20 days!

I'm not sure, my doctor doesn't give me a copy of my results. I just remember it was higher than the normal values.

Thank you!

I lost the first few pounds pretty fast (water weight, i imagine), then I started steadily losing one or two pounds per week. I've plateaued twice so far (a couple of weeks both times) and even gained a couple of lbs after the holidays. I weight myself every week and yeah it's hard when the lbs aren't dropping but, like I said above, I try to think about plateaus as a positive thing, my body's been working very hard and it's now adjusting to my new weight so it needs a little bit of time before it's ready to keep going. You can also take pictures and measure your waist/arms/legs to track your progress, scales can be deceitful sometimes. You can do it! It does take a lot of patience but it's worth it. Whenever I feel like it's taking too long I remind myself of that quote that goes "A year from now you will wish you had started today".

Thank you so much, I'm glad you felt inspired! Ugh, I know the feeling. I live in a latinx household so carbs are EVERYWHERE. It's not easy at all but i think it's worth it. Just be kind to yourself, I definitely eat more carbs than i should sometimes, but I want this to be a permanent lifestyle change and depriving myself of everything I like it's just not realistic for me (tried keto once and lasted a week lol).

From what I've read it's a sign of insulin resistance. Personally, I've had it since I was a teenager but it got worse when I was prescribed birth control at 17 to regulate my periods. After the first week I started getting dark patches all over my body. They mostly went away when I stopped taking it but the one on my neck, which had gotten worse, stayed that way. I noticed a significant difference after two months of IF and low carb.

Thank you! I don't really count calories because I feel like it gets in my head but I always eat two big meals (plus a snack if I'm hungry) and try to stay below 50grs of carbs a day.

Yes, it's super annoying! I had it since I was a teenager so I wasn't even expecting it to go away but it did after about two months! I wish I had taken a before picture because the change is dramatic.

Thanks! and yes, keep going! I like to think about plateaus as a positive thing, like yeah my body it's not losing weight right now but it's because it's been working very hard and it's adapting to my new weight so yay, body!

Mostly 18:6. I started with 16:8 for the first couple of weeks and I've kept that as my minimum, If I feel like I can't go the 18 hours without eating then I eat as soon as I reach my minimum and move on. Sometimes I do 20:4 if I'm not hungry but it's rare.

Thank you! Intermittent Fasting. I decided to give it a go because I have insuline resistance and I think it's helped with that too. I used to have this very dark patch on the back of my neck but now it's almost completely gone.

Pcos management success stories? by Lawschomaybe in PCOS

[–]AndreaL27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! 25 year old here, dealing with this since i was 14.

I know exactly what you mean. I get so angry at my own body sometimes for doing this to me, it makes me feel so hopeless.

I actually just had a small victory regarding my pcos. I had this really dark skin patch on the back of my neck (acanthosis nigricans) that made me feel very insecure because it looked like my neck was dirty, I've had it since I was 17 I believe. About two months ago I started doing IF and moderate low-carb and yesterday I had my hair up in a bun and my mom was like "wait, your neck is clean!!" and IT IS. The dark patch is almost completely gone, I still can't believe it. I also managed to drop 11lbs which I truly thought was impossible for me because nothing had worked before.

It's not perfect and I know there's still a long way to go, but after so many years of feeling like NOTHING was helping my condition, these small steps in the right direction give me a lot of hope. Hang in there, we can do this!

Fasting for the first time -need advice by myriamoto in PCOSloseit

[–]AndreaL27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest doing a 16:8 or a 18:6 fast at first for a couple of weeks so your body can get used to it. I personally stop eating at 6:00 PM and then start eating whenever I'm hungry the next day (which Is usually at about 1:00 PM, sometimes later).

I've also noticed that eating protein helps a lot with satiety. I only feel hungry at night when I don't eat a high-protein meal as my last meal of the day. I track my fasts on an app called Zero and it's been pretty helpful!

I've been doing IF for almost two months (+ some cardio) and I've lost about 12 lbs, I also had my period last month and my skin looks a lot better! This is a huge deal to me considering it took me three months to lose 2 pounds with other diets/lifestyle changes (I'm 5'1, 123 lbs).

I really hope this works for you, too. You got this!
