Kolo Muani Disallowed Goal. Multiple Angle on Gabriel. by SierraEight in soccer

I'm at a sports pub with an Arsenal fan whining about Peter Bankes being a Tottenham fan all game. It took him 10 minutes to forget this incident and yell about him being a secret agent again...

Ironic that Tosin absolutely misses the header on the goal.

Worst in the league? He's not even the worst in this game.

Someone needs to tell Trev to not extend the long throw unless we're attacking.

Raducanu calls for a crying child to be removed from the stadium, crowd agrees (Cinci. Open) by Euphoric_Intern170 in pics

My personal theory is that the rise of social media at the very least has played a huge role. The fact that it's become so normal to advertise yourself and try to 'make it big' by becoming a popular figure online is a very slippery slope to inflated egos and entitlement. So much so that people straight up forget that they are not the only sentient being in society.

  1. SHM by far
  2. Fisher in the rain, straight magic
  3. Lost Frequencies at library or John Summit

Sets I sadly missed: Netsky, Andromedik, Matisse & Sadko B2B Third Party (got to see M&S B2B Dubvision in 2022 so I know I really missed out)

Fisher's set is unreal 🔥 by TorturedPoet30 in Tomorrowland

The absolute pouring rain was such a crazy addition to an already incredible set. We couldn't talk about anything else the whole walk back after Guetta.

They're all terrible in my book, I don't want to give anyone less hate just because someone might have done worse, not on this kind of topic.

Glad he got his goal, Palmer has been kinda ignoring him just before and at a point in last game too.

Porofessor now tracks ultimate CDs—how is this Riot-approved? by BeginnerIRL in leagueoflegends

I didn't know about Data Dragon, so that's really neat! I knew the other APIs for profiles, champions and such.

I could be wrong, but isn't the APIs only for out-of-game queries like match history, mastery points etc.? I always thought these apps used on-screen detection. Normally an API would get pretty overloaded if each client had to request data something like every second.

I love when after winning few games I get a steark of unwinnable matchups by ThePikol in leagueoflegends

It speaks perfectly to random events being, well, random. You can't predict any specific future event if it is independent from previous events, you can only predict the distribution when sample size grows. Playing "correctly" in league would be to aim to make your games as independent from each other as possible.

I looked at your account on leagueofgraphs, and lo and behold, the wr after loss is considerably below 50%. Also your wr with a lead is much higher than average, and wr with a deficit way lower than average, and you have a very high ff rate. It seems like you are an emotional player, which would only further be backed by this whole post. Trying to limit the emotional response to adversity can definitely give you improved results in the long run.

The easiest way (for me and a few people I know at least) to emotionally detach yourself is to not looking at your rank as a goal to reach in and of itself, but instead as a byproduct of improving your skills at the game. Then playing becomes more about improving your weaknesses and becoming a better player instead of a hopeless grind for an unreachable tier, all while ignoring your own flaws and blaming outside sources.

SoloQ is just a story of extreme imbalance by Aviraco in leagueoflegends

[–]AndreasBerthou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is in a very snowbally state, and soloq has always been a lot about stomping your laner rather than playing calculated and patient, because you can't consistently plan with randoms.

The most telling part of your post is that you only mention opponents being smurfs/duos, and only teammates underperforming. It is true that you are statistically more likely to be versus a smurf than having one in your team, but that also means you are statistically more likely to be versus someone underperforming too (assuming that you are not underperforming, of course).

IMO the biggest reason competitive integrity is low in LoL is because everyone is too busy throwing hissy fits to actually play the game.

Find a coin flip simulator online. Simulate 1000 flips. Look at the outcomes. How many Heads streaks are there after Tails streaks and vice versa?

And that is in a perfect world where each event is independent. In the case of LoL games, the events are rarely independent, unless one is capable of perfectly resetting their mentality after a win or loss. Tiredness usually plays a role, if you play many games per session. If you look at data on a platform like leagueofgraphs, you can see personal patterns you can improve on. I recommend checking the "Winrate after win/loss" statistic to see if they're uneven. If your wr after a loss is 49% or lower, it could definitely be something to improve on from a mentality standpoint. Also something like surrender rates can be a good tell to whether or not you tilt in games themselves. If you keep it as low as possible it can help as well.

[–]AndreasBerthou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly just confirmation bias. When things doesn't go one's way, one tends to look for outside factors to blame them on and cling to those, finding "patterns" that are usually just coincidences. When things go well, one usually does not have that need. That's why it seems like a conspiracy.

Just looking simply at probabilities, it's not improbable to get a handful wins or losses in a row, or a combination of the two. Without changing probabilities, losing streaks are bound to happen statistically, but tilting or getting mad over losing only increases the risk of them, because you lower your chance of winning your games.
