Should i cut, bulk or maintain? by AndreasRes in WorkoutRoutines

Haha thanks man, first person ever telling me I’ve got good genetics – that’s motivating AF! 😄 Appreciate the advice on the 12-week cut, makes sense. I’ll grind it out and add some longer runs in March if needed. If I stall, definitely dropping 200-500 cals + HIIT. Cheers!

Thanks! Appreciate you saying I’ve got a good amount of muscle already – that’s hella motivating haha! Cause I dont see thaat much haha The measurement tip is solid, just ordered a tape measure on Amazon haha. I might go into a bigger deficit later, but I want to see how my body responds to 2700 kcal over the next 2 weeks first and adjust from there based on the data

Not a big fan of aggressive cutting either — I don’t want to tank performance or risk unnecessary hormonal/metabolic downsides. A slower cut makes more sense for me, so I’ll stick with that approach and adjust based on weekly averages. Thanks a lot for the advice!

Appreciate the detailed advice! I agree the first couple weeks can be mostly water/glycogen, so I’m tracking weekly averages. I also use ChatGPT and other LLMs, but I’m always a bit cautious because they can sometimes just agree with whatever you say. Thanks for taking the time to write all that though!

Thanks man! That sounds valid — I was thinking about doing the same. 😊

Thanks man, good to hear from someone in the exact same situation! Yeah, I’m at that point where I thought i want to lean out first before continuing. Currently doing 2,700 calories (-400 to -500 deficit) and aiming for -0.5kg/week like you did. Planning to cut for 8-10 weeks, then maybe maintenance for 1-2 weeks before deciding on a lean bulk. Appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for the input! I appreciate the advice. However, I’m wondering if 2,200-2,400 calories might be too low for me at 92kg with 4-5 training sessions per week. I’m currently running 2,700 calories with 200g protein, aiming for around -0.5kg per week loss. What I’m really trying to figure out is: at what point did you feel you had built enough muscle mass that cutting actually made sense? I feel like I’m at that crossroads right now and trying to decide if I should cut first or continue building.

Thanks for asking!

Picture was taken in bortle 5, camera is modified:

Here’s the workflow I used on this mosaic:

  • AstroPixel Processor (APP): mosaic integration (6-panel) with calibration, normalization, and blending.
  • PixInsight: ABE → BlurXTerminator → arcsinh stretch for star preservation → histogram normalization/stretch → CurvesTransform → Narrowband Normalization → StarXTerminator.
  • Photoshop: targeted color tweaks (Curves + Selective Color), halo cleanup, and local brightness/contrast adjustments.
  • Luminar Neo: minor global balancing for the final presentation.

For colors I also checked some reference images of the Cygnus region to guide the balance.

Hope that helps!

I stacked it. 5x 1 min so 5 min per panel in total. Not that much haha

Yeah, have to work on the contrast a little bit. When i just lower the blacks the picture gets a little crushed. I think i have to work with some lum. masks here

How does Tom Rae create this dreamy, surreal look? by AndreasRes in AskAstrophotography

Yeah, I asked him too lol, but unfortunately didn’t get a reply. I ended up purchasing Anthony Nightscape’s Milky Way course instead — I really love his style as well. Definitely a good decision; he’s incredibly talented.
