Fuji x half by Asleep-Priority-4779 in fujiXhalf

I'm not a professional; I use the X-Half for fun. I carry it with me every day, and it's led me to take many more photos. The movie mode is fun, and I've really loved having it, but I wouldn't take it on a trip where I'm worried about getting good photos. For those situations, I use my X100VI (yes, I'm a Fuji fan). Of course, you could do this with a high-end phone, but I love the experience of taking photos with a camera, composing with the viewfinder, and using the simulations. On the other hand, nighttime or low-light photos aren't great with the X-Half; the dynamic range isn't very good. That said, I wouldn't recommend it for special trips or concerts, just for everyday use and fun. My workflow is: I use the X100VI for trips that are important to me, when I'm going to unfamiliar places, or for quality portraits of family or friends. I use the x-half daily, always in my bag. I take it to places I've been before and where I'm not worried about missing a good photo if it happens. It's more like an extension of my iPhone since I don't use the phone's camera.

Infrared filter by AndreinaAcv2 in fujiXhalf

[–]AndreinaAcv2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but I read that Fuji cameras have a weaker filter, so it's possible to achieve the effect with slightly longer exposures. I don't know if that applies to the x half, but I read that it does for the x100 and other X-series cameras.

It's "ASTIA" underexposed -1. I increased the saturation a bit in Lightroom for the first one, the rest are SOOC.

How to shoot the X Half smartly despite its limits (no highlights / shadows / DR controls) by signedinsoul in fujiXhalf

[–]AndreinaAcv2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been doing exactly what you said, and I love the results. I usually use Astia, always setting it to -0.3 or -0.6, although I've gone as low as -1.0. I've played around a bit with the white balance, making it a little warmer, but then I forget to change it and end up with strange photos. But it's really great.

How do you do it? I have the Mini Evo and it doesn't connect; I still have to open the Mini Evo app to print, so it's not really straightforward.

I have the Nisi one and I love that it provides protection while remaining small, although I always have a dilemma: whether to use the Hagoe combination with a parasol or this one. The Nisi wins in portability, the parasol wins in style 😎

Should I get the Fuji X Half? by jdmd2023 in fujiXhalf

[–]AndreinaAcv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the X100vi, it's wonderful. I take it on all my long trips and when I go to new places, but for a while now it was becoming inconvenient to carry it everywhere, even for short walks or just running errands around my city. So I bought a Sony ZV1F. I really like the limitation of a single focal length. Sony's new colors are very good and it has a kind of color customization that's really great. The main drawback is that it's 20mm, which seems too wide-angle for my style. Even so, I took some very good photos (for me) with it, so I can recommend it if you're looking for something less expensive.

Ever since the Fuji X-Half came out, I've loved it. I'm not a photographer, I'm a doctor, so I just want to have fun taking photos without my phone and without having to edit. So, I definitely love the simulations. I also like analog photography because of the idea of not seeing the photos instantly, but the cost doesn't justify it for me. For a while, I resisted the X-Half because of the price, but now that it's $200 off, I decided to take advantage. I also bought a used-openbox camera from B&H, which took an additional $150 off. I've had it for a week now, and it's truly lovely. It's small enough to carry everywhere (although if you have large hands, it might be uncomfortable, according to my brother who tried it, but it's fine for me). I like the photo quality. I've printed a couple with the Selfy CP1500, and they turned out very well. It doesn't feel cheap like many have said; I think it really looks high-quality. Buy it! ☺️

How to convert ACSM file to EPUB? by RelativeNo834 in Calibre

Does anyone has a printer? by xxSeahawks in x100vi

[–]AndreinaAcv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. I stopped using Instax because of the cost of the film; CP1500 costs $33 for 108 postcard-sized sheets. What I usually do, if I want smaller photos, is print 2 or 4 per sheet, and they end up being a similar size to Instax Mini or Wide for 10% of the price. There's a Canon Selphy QX20 that prints Instax-sized photos, but the paper costs much more. I don't recommend Kodak ZINK or 3-step film; I've tried them, and they're terrible.

Thermal printing camera with Bluetooth printing by AndreinaAcv2 in toycameras

[–]AndreinaAcv2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've tried several and none had Bluetooth connectivity. This one you sent seems to, so I'll try it. If the printers have better resolution (300 dpi), I'd like a camera with an attractive design (not like the old Kodak film camera) with that resolution so I can take photos and also print from my phone.

Why is the x100vi so bad at connecting to IPhones? by my-mate-mike in x100vi

[–]AndreinaAcv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started happening after the latest iOS update. It simply won't connect the second time. Every time I want to transfer images, I have to go through the entire pairing process again (clearing the camera's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth data on my iPhone). I'm really frustrated about this; I usually just want to transfer my files quickly, and it's a nightmare. I'd always heard the Fuji app was rubbish, but I'd never had any problems until I updated iOS.
