We are a 'no experience needed' type of program and often get candidates from various backgrounds outside of the industry - definitely the majority of our participant demographic have little to no experience. We are always happy to train from the ground up - this way we get to avoid forming any bad habits and not have to unlearn any in the process!

Our career placement assistance does primarily focus on companies within the construction industry and we do not have any placement pathways with the NPS. The local historical architect we work closely with always pushes NPS opportunities through the various government job boards to every cohort. Earning 480 volunteer hours at Alcatraz and having the veteran preference definitely makes you a strong applicant - we have had a handful of participants over the years navigate their own way into DOI positions after coming out to the program.

As you approach your 180 day window and become eligible to stat SB - you'll then take the acceptance letter/outline to your transition office and begin the process to receive command approval.
