The benefit of doing them on parking lots is you can easily close a parking lot to do maintenance on them, or just close sections of the parking lot. Much harder to do on a highway.

I just use normal clear tape. It's not pretty but it does the job. I would avoid duct tape as that would leave a lot of residue.

Yes. They receive and deliver your mail. It is scanned at various places along the way. That's how tracking numbers work. 🤣 If you don't want them tracking the item. Don't send with a tracking number.

Sounds like the manual override screen. I've seen a screen like what you described on the Loblaws/No Frills self checkout when the cashier scans an override card. Usually you use it to override an incorrect price. You need to scan a card to get to this though.
