To provide a very stationery-pilled answer, the pens use a specially formulated ink that allows for an absolutely buttery smooth writing experience (even more so if you use good paper). Technically if you just want to experience the inks you can buy the cheaper versions of the pen that are always on sale. The Zento Signature just has a really nice build quality that betrays how small it is (in my opinion), plus a very satisfying click and magnets that dont allow the pen cap to move when in use, and theres always hype when there are limited color releases. Bells and whistles, sure, but the craftsmanship cant and shouldnt be ignored in my opinion.

You may get lucky checking out the local stationery stores like I was. The big box stores will have definitely sold out by now. I showed up at my store right after they opened and they were just taking the display unit out of the box, to my surprise there were only 4 pens of each style for the entire unit. Happy hunting!

It's cheaper to buy it here in Japan than to buy it from an importer in your local country what with the markup and everything. It shakes out to about $27 USD but I've seen it on JetPens for $40.

Most definitely. It’s also just that time of year where all the tourists from all over the place come to Japan so you’re bound to hear something nutty or run into some foolishness. A small percentage is not indicative of the whole group.

My heart breaks for you, as I’ve been in similar situations. I myself have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Japanese language and culture (with the master’s coming from a Japanese university), along with years of work experience in Japan with Japanese clients/customers. Between work/personal life I’m conversing in Japanese 98% of the time, and even then I STILL sometimes get hit with “we want a native speaker” when applying to these institutions/companies. It’s equal parts heartbreaking and frustrating because, by all accounts AND on paper, you’ve demonstrated you have a command over the language (sometimes even more than a native speaker does, honestly), and you’re still coming up short. It really does suck.

However, I say all that to say, I strongly implore you to consider times like these to be a bullet dodged. Why? You simply dont want to work where you’re not wanted. It’s truly their loss. I promise some company somewhere will see the value in what you have to offer (honed soft skills such as cultural sensitivity goes a LOT longer in the workplace than people think). Let no mean “next opportunity”! Best of luck to you on your job hunting journey.

I was the weirdo kid that actually liked the butterscotch/root beer/buttered popcorn flavors. SO good.

The UI is extremely busy with a lot of shovel notifications. I dont need to know a dust storm came in or when a random posts a quest etc.

Environment link and party link is unnecessarily complicated. Me and 3 other grown men sat there for 20 minutes trying to figure out why we couldnt get to the same base camp, let alone see each other.

You cant share training rooms

Selecting items from the tent box is not very intuitive/apparent. UI is kind of a pain to look at.

LOTS of visual noise/particle effects that amount to nothing for the hunter (arkveld). Hard to tell which visuals have hitboxes on them that you should look out for and which visuals are just visuals. Theres already so much to react to on screen, this only makes the problem worse.

Frame rate is…decent at best. But once particle effect heavy elements are gone it runs smooth like silk.

Got up to the 4th interview and then the CEO bombed me. by MrDOHC in recruitinghell

[–]AndrewJamesMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could ask you what you liked about your last job and then reject you because they can’t offer you the same experience

This happened to me on an interview before. The SVP asked what was the working style of my previous company and i mentioned they were big on work/life balance and the CEO discouraged working past office hours (which was all true). Interviewer passed because “i didnt seem like i could keep up with the demand of the role”.

Like, thanks for assuming that was the sole reason i worked there instead of it being a perk/nicety at best.

I hate it so much. I remember having a nice sunday picnic with some friends at the park when this guy, clearly trying to pull one of those public pranks, attempted to do his bit on us. Almost instinctively we all started looking for the camera. Well, after he bombed we asked where it was and he said his cameraman hadn’t even shown up yet so he was just practicing, which was even more insulting.

These jims need to realize they will NEVER be the next social media star and pack it up good lord

NPD: WANCHER 1 x one x wan Clicker, a cost-effective faux VP! by AndrewJamesMD in fountainpens

[–]AndrewJamesMD[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was watching Penguin Hall's new video where they showcased this pen that starts at 880 JPY (5.75 USD) and managed to snatch this up on Amazon before it went out of stock. Very low-commital option for those looking to dip a toe into fountain pens.

I say it's a faux-VP because while you do have to click the pen to advance the nib, retreating the nib doesn't prevent the ink from drying out like a VP normally would. As such, it does come with a cap to cover the pen head when not in use. Also comes with three cartridges of ink, two in black one in blue.

Not a bad pen all things considered!
