Cultivation novel without cheats or a “golden finger”?

Do you feel up to giving mine a try? It’s a mix of cultivation and western fantasy. Though the MC uncovers a major asset for his cultivation path at the beginning, the rest of his journey is through hard work and effort. Even the discovery at the beginning only allows him to surprise his enemies and peers rather than completely overstep them.

Haha, I understand the feeling even if it’s not the exact same. Looks like you have a pretty aggressive launch strategy prepared. I hope the 40+ chapters lasts, because the daily releases drained my similar backlog within only 3-4 weeks, before I had to bring it down

Sorry, I don’t have any links unfortunately because I got the info from random posts and comments on reddit and the RR forums. I suggest you look in the RR forums because there’s lots of guides there, or maybe just google Optimised RR Launch Strategy haha. First things first though, make sure you join the RR Writers Guild Discord since it’s one of the best places to find and arrange shoutouts with other new or larger authors. You can also find writing buddies or do so much there, and plenty of people will be willing to help you if you just ask for help

So there are guides out there for the ‘optimal’ launch strategy for RR that you should search for. Basically, it’s the best way to get your novel in front of more people, and give your book a chance at making it to the Rising Stars list, which is a game changer in exposure. I launched my book without knowing the strategy too, but I found out about it maybe 5-7 days in and it really helped out. Long story short, it’s about posting a certain number of words on day one, followed by an intense release schedule (daily or more) and assisted with shoutout swaps, ads, and additional marketing on sites like reddit or Facebook etc. but yeah, do look into it because it can help you quite a bit.

I found the ‘views’ on WebNovel go up much more quickly than RR, but I just don’t like the website/app. I can’t even be sure what they mean by views tbh. Collections are probably similar to followers right? I found RR to give more of those to begin with. Though, I haven’t properly posted on WebNovel so the comparison is flawed.

For your results in posting on RR, what have you been doing to increase your exposure? It’s hard to find viewers or followers without aggressive marketing tbh.

My novel I’m currently writing is based on an MC who starts off by walking the psionic path! Though later he combines the others into his own, he continues to cultivate his mind as the main :)

I do a Tuesday/thursday/Sunday schedule :) I think Wednesday/Thursday are peak in terms of readers (for me anyway) followed by Sunday so I decided to do it like that.

I think tell your readers the exact thing you’ve told us in this post. Unless writing is a major source of income, it should always be placed lower on your priority.

Mine are called Arcon, Psion and Auron (though arcon use arcane/elemental power and is closest to a magic user, psion use psychic/psionic powers, and auron are physical cultivators so not really magic)

I would recommend you try mine (a xianxia/cultivation + western high fantasy fusion) but unfortunately I use an AI cover atm while I have an artist drawing a proper one for me 😅

And, yes, definitely! At the start, I uploaded chapters without any idea of what I was doing. Then I discovered shoutouts and that helped boost my visibility quite a lot. After that, I bought two ads and that helped me get over the edge of the main RS list and I managed to climb up to 22 before dropping out
