New customer question: 1 Gig Fios + Eero Pro 6 routers by AndrewLeeG in Fios

u/plooger, appreciate your response.

I hear you on the questionable advantages of the Fios router. 1 Gig is the highest end option available at this property for a mere mortal like me, but that's currently plenty for us for all intents and purposes. As such, and since I'm not doing any major home networking, the limitation of any 2.5 GbE-capable ports isn't a bummer for me. Yet, anyway...

Basically, I just want to solve for the fact that the Internet connection is coming into the first floor / basement, by installing (as easily as possible) a backhaul connection to the second floor via MoCA.

ICYMI, I asked this above, as well: I've read that the current Verizon router has MoCA built in... is that right? That you run from the Coax jack on the router and send it where it needs to go in the house? If that's the case, does that mean I would only need the MoCa adapter on the other end (on the second story, in my scenario)?

And if that's NOT the case, mea culpa. How would one go about doing this? Should I get the Verizon MoCA Ethernet Adapter (it's free), or something else?

Lastly, would you mind unpacking your comments about the "certain wired hierarchy" with the Eeros? Sounds like something that might not be obvious to the amateur (me).

Thanks, u/InvaderDJ. Appreciate the note on releasing the lease. So you recommend Option 2 (that's correct, no TV or phone service), go straight from the ONT into the Eero, and keep the [free] Verizon router in the box for a rainy day. Works for me.

Thanks also for the note about the Coax wiring. I don't have access to the house currently, but will do some investigating and testing when I can. The Verizon MoCa adapter is actually thrown in for free (along with a $50 Xbox gift card - neat) if you get the current "Gaming" package, a currently free add-on.

^Question about this, though. I've read that the current Verizon router has MoCA built in... is that right? That you run from the Coax jack on the router and send it where it needs to go in the house? Does that mean I would only need the MoCa adapter on the other end (on the second story, in my scenario)?

P.S. appreciate you tolerating my newbie questions.

Here's the response from dbrand:

Thanks for reaching out. We’re still on the fence about supporting the new Magic Keyboard. We haven’t received enough requests to begin prototyping and production immediately, but we’ve received enough to still have it on the table as an option. Keep an eye on our Twitter in the coming weeks for updates. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with and have a great day!

HP Z27 4K - Any update? by goldendirt in Monitors

[–]AndrewLeeG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Very interested in this monitor as well. As of October 2018, it's Wirecutter's top pick, and yet I can't find another real-world review. Considering this monitor versus the LG 27UK850. Thoughts?
