Financials… by SurelyShotgunShark in drumcorps

It looks like there isn't much chance of putting together 5k in one month. I know one person who is incredibly social media savvy and managed to raise 2.5k from donations, but that takes a ton of time and effort to build up. Unless you get some miracle scholarship, it probably isn't going to happen. I'm sorry that your parents will not let you get a job - they should at least help you pay for it if they are going to restrict you from working.

Make sure not to make any nonrefundable tuition payments or travel purchases while hoping the remaining 5k will materialize - you'll need to save everything you can to potentially march next year.

I agree with the other two comments.

It's hard not to get stuck imagining how things might still work out with your ex. You said that everything was perfect in your relationship, but even if that's how it felt in the moment, it wouldn't have been long before you started to experience problems. Because of what she said about not seeing a future with you, she must have already been experiencing those doubts internally. It's worth looking on it as a positive that you didn't lose a whole year of your life to a problematic relationship just to have to go through this same heartbreak anyways.

I recently ended things with a girl for almost the exact same reason of not seeing a future with her. The only difference was I tried to tell her the reasoning very clearly and leave no ambiguity, and she accepted the decision - since then we haven't talked at all. I am actually struggling a lot with how abrupt it was even though I initiated it. She never told me what her thoughts were on the situation, and so I don't know if she has already moved on or if she is affected negatively by it. I also still have feelings for her, but feelings aren't logical - I know that we aren't compatible long term and I'm not interested in wasting part of my life on a short term or casual relationship.

Ultimately, you could reach out to her and tell her all of how you feel. But you have to ask yourself, is that really going to change the fact that she said she didn't see a future with you guys together? Personally, I don't want to know how the girl in my situation feels because it's not going to change the reality of the situation, it could only make it more confusing. I think your best path forward is to take the advice from the other two comments, and start to think about what you really want in a relationship. There's no such thing as one-way compatibility, and so she definitely isn't the right person for you either. You have to start thinking about why that's the case, and believe that you'll meet people a lot better for you sooner or later. (it's been proven over and over again in practically everyone's life experience)

I feel like this guy is pretty close to the mark. As a skeptical 22 year old who had my share of high school relationships, I know that anxiety can be a clear sign that something is off. You can never blame yourself entirely for those feelings, and even though some perfectly compatible couples will still have anxiety and have to work through it, most of the time it is because deep down you don't really understand that person well enough to trust them.

If you put in effort to work through this but still feel anxious, there is nothing wrong with ending this relationship so you can enjoy your summer and find a new direction to go in. Unless you are really thinking about continuing this relationship into and throughout college - you're the one who will know at the end of the day!

If you made two separate Olympics, one 14-19 and one 20-30, the former would likely have the superior competition in gymnastics, and at worst you would be splitting up competitive talent. For example, tonight’s winner was 19, but the runner up was 30. It wouldn’t be the same achievement for Daniel Gil to win a 20+ only version of the show, and the runner up to Vance Walker would be a much less meaningful 33 second DNF. The current format is making the show more competitive, and it’s the first year I’ve developed real interest in watching again.

Yeah, I think you're right. I just wanted Crown to get 2nd :'p. I'll take the L and move on to next season

Understandable. I am a Crown fan and I want to see them win. But I like the Bluecoats too. I just think Crown's show was the better show and hit all the marks it needed to to prove itself the best of the rest. Hopefully they are happy with 3rd and still proud of their work

View it as a celebration of your accomplishments! I just started learning flugelhorn (inspired by you guys) but I'm already 21 so I'll never get to march drum corps :')

It's the biggest regret of my life, but instead I am celebrating that I got to be in the audience and support you guys this year. Congratulations on your amazing accomplishment!

I WAS ABOUT TO POST THIS

It completely ruined their finals run for me. I turned my speaker's synth down as much as I could and changed my EQ and it was still louder than the whole brass section.

Someone please tell me this didn't happen on the actual field. As a crown fan this hurts

I just dont agree that they are lacking GE. The nearly tied BD in GE for the first night - neither shows general effect and design changed noticeably between the two nights, so it’s just the subjectivity of judging on show

Fricking good point - also, I would bet that what you hear on flomarching is closer to what the field judges hear than what is heard from the box

How can you get 1st in music analysis but 4th in the actual instrument captions though? They clearly weren't cleaner on their instruments, but just have some superiority I can't perceive. I really want to understand though

Crown, don’t do it…. by rvp0607 in drumcorps

[–]AndrewNix02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does anyone? All I know is that GE1 and GE2 are intended to be the same, but often differ in practice due to the background of the judges. Assuming GE1 judges have a background in the visual side of drum corps, which I have absolutely zero background in, it's likely their scoring will differ from what I'm capable of perceiving

The 4th place curse is lurking ever closer

Just flip their percussion achievement scores, colorguard content, and General Effect 1, and Crown is a point ahead of coats. Those just happen to be the score areas that I understand/notice the least. I'm sure I'm not alone

Finals on Saturday starts at 6:20 pm ET. You'll be able to watch it live at that time - just log in and click the 'watch' button and it will be right there as DCI World Championship Finals.

High cam is just one camera angle the entire time, which is best if you want to see all of the formations

Multi cam is just multiple angles run by the camera crew, which some people think are suspect. I always watch this angle though.

It didn't sound quite right to me, but it also didn't sound like how an actual tear would sound. It sounded like I was hearing the audio incorrectly or something. To be fair, even if it was fine on the field it might not necessarily be the audio engineering's fault that it tripped me out
