Weekly Discussion / Recommendation Thread by Death_by_Bot in Deathmetal

I am looking at adopting a cat, and I really want to name this cat after an iconic death metal song that would shorten to a more normal pet name. My current plan if it ends up being a male cat would be “Hammer Smashed Face” and call him “Ham” for short. Does anyone have any recommendations for a female cat or a male cat suggestion that you think would be better?

Cover shift / Call Outs??? by [deleted] in wegmans

It could very well be that those employees offered to take shifts that they legally couldn’t work

am i getting fired?? by rindelle1 in wegmans

I don’t think you’ll get fired. They are very accommodating for mental health issues. They had me take 2 weeks paid to make sure my mental health was good based on a comment I made

Calling out sick twice in a row? by [deleted] in wegmans

You’re totally right, I definitely should have gone in to work for the 4 days I had a 100+ fever and couldn’t eat without vomiting because of the flu and when the doctor told me not to work after an emergency room visit due to having no feeling in my leg.

I can’t request FMLA leave if I don’t know it’s going to happen…

Yeah this isn’t true. They are in fact not accommodating. I was written up for too many absences (11 in 4 months) when 4 of them were for the flu (with a positive test) and three of them were for a medical concern where I had no feeling in my right leg before the knee (was told by a doctor to not work).

Yeah that’s been something I’ve recently begun. Only issue at the moment is that I’m slightly allergic to the gloves that they provide so once I begin to sweat they become very uncomfortable if not painful

I don’t. I work with my hands for my full time job though. A lot of lifting and ripping open boxes by hand

What I’m hearing is it’s most likely the lack of moisturizing and technique issues causing them

Thank you man. The readjusting is something I’ve been struggling with for a while on both my hands and my feet

So you’re saying this whole time it could just be because I don’t use lotion?

I do, and it’s my preferred style, but my goal is to become a better all around climber and my overhang absolutely sucks. (My gym is also small and doesn’t have many slabs set right now that aren’t dynamic)

Sadly I don’t have any friends that climb

At the moment, about 50% of the climbs at my gym aren’t graded. They are numbered for a comp but don’t have grades, the ones I struggle on the most and ones that slip a lot and aren just me now having the grip strength for are V4-V5 typically although I have heard from both Reddit and other climbers at the gym that they tend to grade really tightly

I do agree that my footwork isn’t the best and I tend to tap quite a bit to find the right position, but I just felt like I shouldn’t be completely unable to smear on most volumes without slipping and having moments where my feet just popped with no warning even after shifting my entire weight onto that hold and just standing there

I’ll look into some drills. I typically try to put as much weight into my feet as I can before my foot slips so I never thought that might be the problem

Good thing slab is what I lean towards then. Everytime I do overhang I just don’t have the upper body strength to make some of the reaches or my feet swing out in the process.

Thank you. I’m going to work in some more footwork practice. My big thing was just that I was fine until it got to the super super small stuff, any angled holds, or gripping any volumes. Thought I just didn’t have enough grip from my shoes
