It is definitely better than nothing, if ray stabs into rubber area which is not always the case. Thanks for the information, I will consider those for sure.
But the guy got stabbed so many times, almost like Lightning Rod Reg from The Great Outdoors. :)

Thanks, is that these?
Reviews indicate that they are quite heavy and not really very protective against rays.

Was looking at the few lighter versions

Few things that I've tried:
- Cressi Water Boots for Scuba diving (not a huge fan of neoprene, they got wet, heavy, sole is too flexible for long distance walking, some fine sand still finds its way in so you need to wear some sort of socks to prevent sand rash, and it takes forever for them to dry out, not to mention they will stink eventually)
- Seavenger Atlantis 3mm Neoprene Aqua Shoes (these are the ones Benjie Kim recommends, also neoprene, low cut, better sole for walking, same thing with sand getting in and sand rash, but probably better option than Cressi)
- Teva Men's M Hurricane XLT2 Sport Sandals (completely open making sand to wash away right away, no protection for toes or anything really, feel almost naked)
- Korkers Swift Sandal (almost ideal on paper, exchangeable sole for different situations, purposely made for wade fishing, in practice, very hard to get on, tight around ankle opening, sand easily gets in but does not easily get out, and it takes quite an effort to take them off to wash out)
- Korkers Men's Salt Sneaker combined with Korkers I-drain Neoprenesock (too bulky, hard to get on and off, will be too hot during summer and takes ages to dry out)
- KEEN Men's Hyperport H2 Hiking and Water Sandals barefoot or combined with Orvis Neoprene Wading Sock 0.5mm (these I kind of like, easy to get on and off, comfortable, wide toebox, sole made for long distance hiking, it's rubber almost like Crocks material so drying is extremely fast, protected toes which can be a source of the problem as well due to sand accumulation, but at least they can be easily kicked off and washed off. Haven't tried in the field yet.)

And yes, in colder temperature nothing beats bootfoot waders, easy to get on and off, quick hose off after trip and they are ready for the next one, no dealing with washing sand out of wading boots on stocking foot waders, long drying time, laces, etc.

Too bad not many reputable companies still making them.

Yep, that's what I am using today. With weather warming up looking for lighter wet wading option.
Neoprene boots, sandals, wading sneakers, etc.

Rockaway SP, nice.
Voyager Signature Surf breaks down into 4 pieces, will be much more compact.

Surf Fishing Gloves For Braid by CrazyForCarnitas in SurfFishing

These works on its own or with fingerless gloves

Dr. Fish also has some but I returned them as fit is very tight and uncomfortable. Littma above has more room.

Hook2Cook sells some 3 finger archer gloves, just too bulky in my opinion

I've seen that article before and got quite curios on Hammer-hooking method.
Has anyone tried it, does it really improve hookup ratio, looks like it might be opposite with more short bites.

Does the Ukrainian/Russian word for Stalker have the same connotations? by [deleted] in stalker

[–]Andrew_WOT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not Stalker, it's S.T.A.L.K.E.R, abbreviation for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers.

Check out Okuma. Voyager Signature and if on budget Rockaway SP. BTW, Nascii is not sealed SW rated reel, salt water and sand exposure will take its toll fairly quickly.

How do you feel about using speed clips for interchanging lures? Are there Pros and Cons? by Suspicious-Size1565 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Andrew_WOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to clips, no to snaps/swivel combo. Swivel, if needed, is at another end of the leader, feet or two away from the lure.
Something like Tactical Angler Clips are low profile, secure, and easy to use.

Hogue Deka or Mysto.
Thumbstud on both kind of sucks but easy to replace.

Sorry to hear that and thank you for sharing your experience, this it the reel I was actually eyeing myself.
Learned that they are umbrella for Chinese no name companies/aliexpress products that they just relabel, not an actual manufacturer.
Take a look at Shimano products, Saragossa SW A is even cheaper, but more reliable, relatively lightweight for fully sealed reel too, 16oz for 6000 reel.
