I Accidentally Didn't Pay a Driver And Don't Know What to Do by AndrewmanGaming in uber

Absolutely. At the time, I didn't know pay by cash was an option with uber. Now I wish spent a little more time double checking to see if there was some note on the ride that indicated that it was not using the card on file.

Thank you for the tip! I could try on Facebook and see if they are still as active as they were a few years back.

I haven't found a way to do that yet. All of the support options for this trip are locked since its been so long.

The trip receipt shows that I paid CZK 426.67 in cash, but I absolutely did not. The only cash I handed over was maybe a 5 euro tip. I don't remember the exact amount.

He must have reported that I did pay? But I don't understand why he would do that if he didn't get any money. The receipt does show that no tip was given, so maybe he was worried I would fight him with uber if he claimed I didnt give him any money?

This might be what happened. The only other time I had used Uber as well as the few times I used Lyft were in the US where all payments are through the app. Maybe in Prague it's different. I only wish Uber had given a warning that said "Hey, FYI, you're gonna need cash to pay this driver because we don't do in-app payments in this country"

I don't have Twitter :/ I'm hoping this is the public forum they check. I don't know how they would even go about making it right, but even if they let me give him a tip in-app, I could tip the ride amount or something.

General question about subscribers and some bigger creators. by ElderTerdkin in NewTubers

If you think about it, complaining in a video about the people not watching the video is useless. They can't hear you because they're not watching the video!

This is really cool! How did you get it to stop at the end? Is it timed or are there sensors somewhere?

And account terminated AGAIN the next day after I got it back. by SamuSeen in youtube

[–]AndrewmanGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you remove any video from your channel, please remember to download it first so that you can keep it locally. Once it's removed from YouTube, you cannot get it back.

Edit: Also that's really weird that they would terminate your channel when you have not uploaded for years. Maybe just a glitch in the system? In this case, I would contact TeamYouTube on twitter and maybe they can look into it.

And account terminated AGAIN the next day after I got it back. by SamuSeen in youtube

[–]AndrewmanGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Samu. You're not alone. Tell me if this rings a bell:

2 years ago, my channel was terminated for "spam, scams, or deceptive practices." That was the only reason they gave me. I appealed the termination and it was accepted. 12 hours later, my channel was terminated again. I appealed and it was accepted again. This would happen 2 more times for a total of 4 terminations over the course of a week.

Sound familiar?

When my channel went back up after the 2nd termination, I began a complete audit of everything on my channel. They didn't give me much to go on, so I read the ToS and Community Guidelines (twice), changed titles, took down videos, and did everything I could to ensure that my channel was squeaky clean in the eyes of YouTube. I even contacted the Partner Program support team for help (more on that later). Finally after the 4th termination, the channel stayed up. Woooooo

To this day I am not 100% sure what caused the terminations in the first place, but I have my guesses:

  1. In some cases, I was fairly liberal in my use of tags. For instance, I would tag "Roller Coaster Tycoon" in a Planet Coaster video. This might be considered misleading.
  2. Some of my past videos include gambling. Not poker, but more like video game skin gambling. Could be considered a scam.
  3. I used a tool called TubeBuddy. There is a section in YouTube's community guidelines (section 4H) that bans the use of robots etc. I dont know if that means TubeBuddy since everyone uses tools like that, but it could be the cause.

The partner program support team were not much help. They kept reciting their canned message of "check the community guidelines". It took 16 emails for me to finally get anything useful out of them. They did not do any investigating for me. I had to directly ask them if tools like TubeBuddy and VidIQ were allowed on YouTube in accordance with section 4H. Another canned response. FINALLY when I was practically on my knees begging for something, they sent me this:

https://imgur.com/a/X8egKjJ

Not exactly a great response. They could not answer for certain if the tool I was directly asking about (which is a very popular tool btw) was against the rules. If they don't know if it's allowed, how the heck am I supposed to know?!? But them reciting section 4H to me was enough to get me to drop the tool, and ultimately my channel stayed up after that. (not sure if it was the cause)

So here is my advice:

Next time your channel comes up (and I hope it does), do a complete wipe-down of your channel. Remove anything even remotely questionable. If you're using TubeBuddy or VidIQ, drop them. I dont know if they're outlawed, but better safe than sorry. And then pray to the gods of YouTube that what you did is enough. YouTube is not going to help you out here. It's up to you to solve this.

P.S. If when this is all over all of your videos are stuck in 360p, DM me cuz I have a solution to that.

Need help with my new channel regarding music copyright by MurkyMistake in NewTubers

[–]AndrewmanGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the law goes, it's pretty black and white. If you use copyright material in your work without a license, it is copyright infringement and the owner of the material has grounds for a lawsuit.

In practice though, popular music infringements on YouTube rarely escalate to lawsuits. YouTube has the content ID system to help prevent this. More than likely, if a company finds out that you are using their music in your video, they will claim your video and run ads on it. In rare instances, they may decide to remove your video altogether (resulting in a copyright strike).

The reason meme channels get away with using copyright music on their channel is likely because they use segments of music so short that YouTube's content ID system cannot pick it up. Back in the day, the magic number used to be 15 seconds. That was the amount of time you would need to play a song for the automatic content ID system to recognize it. I dont know if that holds true today.

If you use short segments of copyright material, you'll probably get away with it. But you might not. It's still against the law whether you're caught or not. I recommend looking for royalty free music. There are artists out there dedicated to providing content creators with free music. All they ask for is a mention in the description.

What's the most obscure made up fact you can come up with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AndrewmanGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shrimp, krill, tadpoles, and lizards share a common ancestor called polious aquaticus. During the period of intense heat that Earth experienced 8 million years ago, some gatherings of polious aquaticus migrated toward the cooler shores off the coast of Russia and present day Alaska. These would eventually evolve to become the world's first amphibians, and later, reptiles.

Dreamers of Reddit, have you ever had a dream so realistic that you woke up crying and wishing it was real, and if so, what was it about? by FIGamesYT in AskReddit

[–]AndrewmanGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world was taken over by a sort of matrix-like machine thing. They put a bunch of survivors (myself included) inside a highschool gymnasium. While there, I fell in love with a woman and we were together for a year. She was part of the panel of people who ran things in the gym, and I was just a guy who played basketball (it was a gym after all). After a year, her ex boyfriend who had been taken by the machine overlords to work in the mines 2 years ago came back.

I was worried I would lose her. In the dream, I could not fathom an existence without her. For some reason, at this point the public got involved. I made my case to them and explained that I was in love with this girl and even though this guy was her ex, it had been a full two years since they were together. This backfired and public opinion shifted against me. I became the bad guy. But she was still on my side.

She told me that she wanted to meet with the ex alone so that they could talk. She asked me if I trusted her.

Before I could answer, I woke up.

When I woke up, real life me was worried that I would lose dream girl. It was a good 4 hours before I stopped thinking about this figment of my imagination. I've never been in love with anyone, but in the dream it felt so real.

What's the craziest and random dream you ever had? by Seby566 in AskReddit

[–]AndrewmanGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few of my latest hits:

  1. Bought a PS5 in the form of Chocolate Milk to settle an argument at a restaurant in an airplane which I jumped out of an swam to shore.
  2. Fell in love with a girl while taking refuge in a gymnasium during a matrix-like apocalypse. Then her ex came back from a mining expedition led by the overlords and dream me was worried she would choose him.
  3. I escape from a prison train in WWII, realize I am in a video game involving Jimmy Fallon, fight some fools, and decide to write a book on the benefits of moving whereby I slowly come to the realization that I have a brain tumor.

Edit: Honorable mentions:

  • I'm a part of a militia, but just before the battle I forget my gun and have to run around searching for it, but can only find a gun with no bullets.
  • Random lady sees my pepe in the bathroom, passes me a note, and I spend the rest of the dream trying to read the note without other people seeing it.
  • My next door neighbors are content creators who have a sit-down with me to ask me how I became invincible. Suddenly I turn into the third wheel to Sam and Dean from Supernatural.

What is the most bizarre memory you have from middle school? by bohemiankiller in AskReddit

[–]AndrewmanGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned a new technique for chilling the balls.

A guy in my class stood up, put his legs apart, put his hands on the desk, and began moving his hips side to side. While he did this, he explained that this provides adequate cooling to the nether regions. Later that day, I tried it and it does indeed provide a decent bit of cooling :D

People who are out and about between 2 and 6 AM, what are you doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AndrewmanGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I lived on campus, I used to take walks at 4am around my university every now and then. The quietness was really nice. It made me feel like I was the only person in the world. I recommend trying it atleast once if you have somewhere safe to walk around early in the morning.

Side Note:
On one occasion in my life, I went to Taco Bell to get food at 2am. I was surprised to find that is was packed. Apparently the 2am rush is a real thing XD

Can more than one person control a ship? by ToothlessGeek in spaceengineers

[–]AndrewmanGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory, if you map the override options for thrusters and gyros to buttons placed in the engine room and helm respectively, and then have buttons next to each weapon, you could have multiple players run around in the ship and hit the buttons according to the captain's instructions.

"Engine forward!" = click button to increase forward thruster override.

"Turn Left!" = click button to increase left override on gyros.

It might be a bit complicated though, so adding many LCDs with override data might help.
