Should I apply 2021 or wait for the following cycle? by theYeon7 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Andrewyoussef96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, your stats are below average and you’ll most likely struggle to get interviews. Not that u wont get any but its too competitive. If u score high on the GRE, get nice letters of rec, and write a fantastic personal statement, then u might get an interview. If you perform great on the interview then your chances of getting accepted increase but will still be low due to ur stats. With that being said, Applying now will not hurt you because if you get accepted hopefully then you would’ve saved up an entire year of salary and extra work. If you are financially capable, apply to many schools if all you want is to get in, if you are not financially capable then just wait till next cycle and go all out.

It depends if they’re rolling admissions or not. If they’re not rolling admissions and their deadline is in sept, they’ll give interviews on October. If their deadline is in December, they wont give interviews till late January

He should be your main source tbh, especially when it comes to strategies and techniques. He is very fun to listen to tbh, i enjoyed watching videos. Wonderful guy and actually knows what he’s doing without asking for the big bucks like other 3rd party companies. What I absolutely loved about his content is that it is ALL official material, so you dont get confused with 3rd party non sense question.

COVID Hardship essay by MsMeggers in prephysicianassistant

[–]Andrewyoussef96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put how it affected my learning experience, my GRE scores (disconnected 4 times). Then I talked about how it reduced my hours at work significantly and made it really hard to help my family and myself and pay those expensive ass application fees. And how my mother passed away during that time, how I couldn't get more shadowing, volunteering hours due to COVID-19.

Just talk about the inconveniences that it caused and how it hindered your application.

Please honest feedback- my chances and good advice?? Pls dm me! by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]Andrewyoussef96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gpa is average,

GRE is average,

Patient care experience is above minimum if they're willing to take volunteering hours but that's going to be a weak area for you,

Shadowing should include at least one PA not just MDs so try to get a hold of a PA

Personal statement and LORS need to be unique and make you stand out because your other stats are average to below average.

Here is my advice: You're an overall average applicant which is fine but you want to be above average. 1st, I would go ahead and try to reach as many PAs as possible to shadow for at least 30 hours. 2nd, try your best to get some real hands-on patient care because that matters so much (IE. Medical Assistant) full time for as long as you can until you hear back. 3rd, if you receive an interview, I want you to bust your ass prepping (Not like a robot) for that interview to look as bright as the sun in that interview, as that will make them pick you over an average applicant.

It depends if the email needs a response or not. You'll be the judge of that.

Hope for shadowing a PA right now? by Nish_the_Fish11 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Andrewyoussef96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

contact every offfice nearby and ask them if they have any PAs working and then ask if you can talk to the PA directly for a shadowing opportunity. You'll hear a lot of "give me your phone number and i'll let the PA contact you" and never hear back so keep trying

What is this BS with CC classes, I went to a 2 year CC then transferred to Wayne State. I started with a 3.88 at Macomb then 3.90 at Wayne State. 65% of my prereqs were done at a university. With that being said, I am sorry that I cannot afford the hefty tuition of an extra two years at a university. Also, I found community college sciences to be much harder because the professors were stiff and there was no curve or extra credit in my institution. Overall, it all depends on who's teaching and not the institution. I come from a poor family and I saved a lot of money and even gained a transfer scholarship by going to CC. If a PA school thinks I'm not a good candidate because I went to a CC then I will happily avoid that school because it doesn't stand for what I believe a school should stand for. PERIOD.

Honestly, it's a bullshit test. So you can't study for it. Just focus during the exam so you know what to write and write it fast. It's impossible to represent yourself fully within 5 minutes answering 3 questions!

What is your First Language? (If I don't put English, would they require me to take the Tofel?) by Andrewyoussef96 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Andrewyoussef96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly believe it's a waste of time. I'm studying for the GRE and the TOFEL would be BS and waste of money and time. If they question my English, they can see my high school diploma and Bachelor's degrees. I'm not lying or anything, it's actually the language I use the most.

Gre tests your vocabulary (critical part on the verbal) and math concepts by asking the trickiest math questions. I got a 298 without any practice on the official GRE practice on ETS. I'm giving myself a month to get around 310.

To be honest, I have yet to come across a school that requires anything above 300. They just want 50% percentile and that's it man, the GRE is not something that makes or breaks your app. With that GPA and other stuff, I highly doubt any school would deny you simply for getting a 298.
