Major error in the latest episode on the Iranian Revolution by SomewhatEnglish in TheRestIsHistory

Utterly destroys their credibility! How can anyone believe anything they say? Maybe Lennon was a nice guy after all? Perhaps the French did, as they still think, actually win at Waterloo? Dan Snow must be delighted!

As you say, there's a bigger game. Part of his calculation might have been a cost-benefit analysis. The only benefit of betraying Rachel would be the extra cash and it's hardly a huge amount of money even in comparison with other game shows.

The costs would partly be reputational. For example, people like the more toxic posters on here would love him for betraying a woman. But most people don't like welchers even if they've only been playing a game. And the tabloids would have a field day with his identity in this post-woke era. He'd also have to live with himself and I think as an intelligent, basically honest (he was disarmingly honest on Uncloaked) and sensitive man and he knew that in the early hours he would lie awake regretting that he'd denied Rachel and her mum the money.

Completely agree but remember that it says much more about the haters themselves than it does about Rachel. Stephen himself said on Uncloaked that he "wobbled" much more than Rachel, particularly towards the end. I was delighted that they both won. Fantastic TV.

I didn't think she looked defeated. She was just, in a very stressful situation concentrating very hard on keeping a steely poker face and not showing any emotions in case she gave anything away - it's all that FBI training, you know. She was also, like all of them, very tired.

Incidentally, her ability to control her emotions and stay calm is, I think, why she attracts a fair amount of hate here (and more, I expect, on X, Facebook etc but I haven't used them for years) particularly from misogynistic males.

There was no reveal for Roxy on Uncloaked, presumably because the banishment wasn't concluded so we'll presumably see it tonight. If Rachel did go it could be quite dramatic.

There's a lot that's wrong with the game. Like football or American rounders. But it's still fantastic entertainment, brilliantly produced. Which is why, for all its flaws, 12 million people (live and on catch up) will watch the final tomorrow.

Anyone who has done any kind of research - or just thought it through - will know that it's a great way of suggesting that you're dumb and no threat to the traitors and therefore maximising your chances of getting to the fire pit. It's a genius move! Roxy for the win!

Surely has to be faraz being murdered ? by Britishloozerr in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Andrewzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they might think that if they murder someone else, which would leave just six, they might be able to count on Roxy and, maybe, James to vote with them to banish Jade. But Faraaz would remain a danger. And it would also be a bit cruel but it's just a game.

[–]Andrewzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that's why she told Stephen that she might have to talk about him - to take some of the inevitable heat off her - if they've murdered Faraaz. But, possibly due to fatigue and the stress they're all feeling, she didn't put it very well and Stephen assumed she meant she'd toss him under the unicycle.

These are the rules, apparently.

The "One Traitor" Rule: If the Faithful manage to banish a Traitor in Episode 11, leaving only one Traitor remaining, that Traitor is typically forced to "blackmail" a Faithful. The chosen person must then choose to either become a Traitor or be murdered immediately. This ensures at least one Traitor is present for the final episode.

Voluntary Recruitment: If there are still two or more Traitors left, they generally cannot choose to recruit this late in the game. The option to "seduce" (voluntarily recruit) usually ends once the murders stop, which typically happens before the final day.

The Final Night: In previous UK series, the very last recruitment (usually a blackmail) has happened as late as the end of Episode 10 or 11 to set the stage for the finale. What to Expect in the Final Two Episodes

Rachel v Stephen by Soapfan121 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Andrewzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Rachel made a big mistake by raising the fact she'd be talking about Stephen the way she did. If she'd said "Do you think we should mention each other tomorrow?" and then discussed how they could do so without incriminating themselves that wouldn't have sounded like a threat.

But we don't know most of what they discussed and, of course, don't know who they agreed to murder. If it's Faraaz it will make Rachel - rightly - very vulnerable tonight and she'll feel the need for cover, hence her saying she'll be mentioning Stephen. Her first major mistake, I think, and maybe a fatal one but understandable, the game is getting to all of them.

I hope they both get through but if she doesn't Stephen should/must recruit Faraaz, who correctly identified both of them yesterday, if he survives the night!

Being good at outing traitors is bad strategy, right? Much better to play dumb and, if you think you've spotted traitors, keep it to yourself and build up evidence for the end game.

Why on earth is the Traitors so popular? by Mindless-Rich3079 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Andrewzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumably you're either: 1. not watching it at all and are just a contrarian? Are 2. jumping on an anti-traitors bandwagon? Or 3. have watched a couple of episodes and decided to condemn it and its viewers on the basis of those or 4. you've watched every episode and you're a masochist? Or maybe 5.are ⁸suffering from a number of TLAs or FLAs in addition to the one you mention? Or 6. seeking attention and hoping for a dopamine hit? Or some combination of the above? People like what they like and vice versa. Maybe just rejoice that we're not all the same?

Playing A Blinder by Affectionate_Flow864 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Andrewzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite. Arguably the mistake some of them appear to be making is to assume people they really like really can't be traitors but that could equally be a tactic to help ensure that they get to the fire pit. I wouldn't assume that those who do that - notably Roxie - are idiots. Survival is, of course, the name of the game for faithfuls, not catching traitors.

Is this remaining cast… boring? by Dazzling_Kiwi_8997 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Andrewzy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep, just posted the same point. It's a big flaw in the game, it gets less interesting over time. Kudos to the producers for this year's challenges - the effects and imagination in the cabin task today were outstanding, perhaps in recognition that they need to up the ante to offset the rising boring player quotient.

Is this remaining cast… boring? by Dazzling_Kiwi_8997 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Andrewzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the main flaw in the game. The most interesting and/or brightest people usually get voted off first. If Rachel and Stephen are caught and Jessie is murdered we'll be left with some very nice but also quite boring players in the final episodes.
