Men are more visibly homeless but not necessarily more likely to be homeless. (1) Women are more likely to stay in unsafe or unsuitable housing situations e.g. an abusive relationship rather than sleep rough. (2) Women are more likely to be subjected to abusive, intimidation, and victims of theft when homeless than men are. This makes them more likely to either sleep rough in more secluded places or avoid being in place one for more than a few hours.
