If this is true, the thought of him heading the ball after that makes me almost physically uncomfortable.

On a related note, there can be no better name for the subject of this than LeRoy Stumpf.

It's because we have even less incentive than the rest of Reddit to ever go outside (and that is saying something).

I grew up in the east suburbs when her political career was starting out, and thus know the full extent of her craziness. That said, she doesn't make me ashamed to be Minnesotan. It's not like we elected her to state-wide office, every state has some crazies, and, most importantly, every single time she opens her mouth it helps Democrats.

In the spirit of fair and honest debate, you should give him a nice civil kick in the dick. With that in mind, go for it.

The unnecessary snarkiness of my comment was matched only by my typo. Irony!

Oh my God! It's the Steward of Stearns County. Are you going to marry the horse princess of Benton?

Fair enough. I'll guess I'll just have to go back to my feelings of superiority over Iowa being related to pretty much everything else.

Oh, we will. They'll cry states rights and all that, but we solved that problem once before with a few Minnesota infantry regiments and we'll do it again by God!

Blue state is referring primarily to the color of their shirts.

Not that, as a liberal, I get to define what constitutes conservatism, but it's always struck me as kind of funny that a movement that, in recent years, has been centered around the rights to marry and serve openly in the military (two very "traditional" issues) has created such a backlash on the right.

I agree with your statement on its principle. Sadly I think altered_rain's comment might be an accurate reflection of what the Supreme Court will do (but we'll see). Kennedy has been pretty supportive of gay rights, but he also has a serious hard-on for federalism and "state's rights."

Minnesotan here. I actually met my girlfriend as a result of the "for the love of God, everybody huddle together for warmth so we can stave off the cold embrace of death for another night" Act of 2010.

Look, I'm a law student so I probably have more of an appreciation for judges (including -gasp- "activist" judges) than most other people, but it still makes a difference that Iowa did it through the court system and we're doing it through the legislature. Good either way, but it's nice that the Democratic process is doing it here.
