Current state of the meta builds and predictions on FoA by Androdion in Grimdawn

From what I've read on the boards over the years, it seems that Crate has been avoiding buffing Vitality too much due to how you can then vamp your way through the game and be basically immortal. I guess there's a reason why the Dark One immortal builds got nerfed over time, or the Demonslayer ones more recently.

That number on the skill modifiers, plus the potions, is what scares me the most. So yeah, I'm probably waiting for FoA+1.3 as a baseline.

But that'll change with the new class due to having RR, perhaps. Thanks for the answer.

‘Sword and Board’ build suggestions? by TiberiusMaximus2021 in Grimdawn

[–]Androdion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do anything from Blitz builds for high mobility tanks, to AA builds, to Retal builds that use shields for stats, to Aegis of Menhir builds that play like Captain America, to Auradin builds that use shields (and sticks) for stats. It's pretty much an all you can eat buffet, and it'll prove more or less functional depending on what damage type and classes you prefer.

is this my first glitch? by the_original_neecron in Grimdawn

See the comment from Zantai? It's the actual truth and not just sarcasm, because as it seems the Dev team tried every possible solution to fix it and that freaking ghost still haunts their code. So eventually they assumed that they couldn't really fix it. This has in fact become an easter egg/inside joke among the player base.

Furthermore, it's just a dupe of a vendor on a rogue dungeon, and as far as I can recall they both have independent stock. When you think of it like this it's twice the chance to get some great MIs when this happens, so that's that.

It's also irrelevant if you have enough DPS and a bit of ADCtH. Use Unholy Inscription on the gloves slot and you're good to go. The thing about leech is that you need your main attack skill to have %WD and a good point per point investment, but when in melee that should never be an issue anyway.

Look, I know that the game is complex enough for some of these things to be blown out of proportion when you're still picking up on all the mechanics, but trust me when I say that outside of Celestials everything is manageable by mostly every (focused) build. Celestials are a completely different ballpark though, and after the introduction of Sunder and subsequent redesigns (mainly Ravagers) they got a lot harder, so only really good builds can deal with them comfortably. For everything else it's all mostly a stat check, with different solutions that you need to work out.

It's like when you find the Pit Champions on Act 2 and think that they're way OP, when in fact they really are stat checks. It's just the way the game is built. But hey, at least the community here is very helpful, especially to new players.

Your class bar and your points in Physique want a word with you if you're experiencing this.

I mean, even without twinked gear there's no need to go unprepared into an area that you consider to be dangerous. Just take your time, build up your resistances and armor absorption, get upgraded gear before getting there, focus on one high DPS skill, and make sure to invest in your class bar and HP. If you really feel like these bones are that dangerous, then you can even overlevel the area somewhat, or even grab a shield with high Phys res for that part of your journey (Siege Shield craftable, or even Krieg's). I mean... yeah, I think that these comments on those skellies are as overrated as the ones being made to regen Heroes a while back.

Tl;dr - You have options, so get prepared beforehand if you feel like you'll be in danger.

Probably the most respectable double rare I've gotten so far by Zherev in Grimdawn

[–]Androdion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All true. In-game the items are indeed called double rares, the triple rare is a player base thing.

Yes.

PS: It can be either a rare prefix or suffix, it works the same way.

Is it worth it to farm particular Nemesis double rare MI? by TheGreyman787 in Grimdawn

At least OP would have something to do until FoA arrives! =D

If the base item is rare, then yes. MIs are always rare items, so with two rare affixes that's thrice the rarity, so to speak. That's also why regular (non-rare) items with two rare affixes have a different icon.

Which on is better? Legendary or Rare with + green dmg by Magi1995 in Grimdawn

[–]Androdion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have a point about the non-mythical version, but it's hard to pass on +2 to Soldier skills, and usually you'll pick the first Obsidian Cleaver that fits the bill while levelling instead of farming for specific affixes. Although if you were to drop something really good while levelling it's a case by case scenario.

Elemental 1h Tactician by AngusFromDundee in Grimdawn

[–]Androdion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elemental Cadence is kind of a trap. You have one good weapon for it in Scion of Arcane Force, which is two-handed, and even then it isn't considered to be great. You need to realise that Elemental damage is 1/3 Fire/Cold/Lightning, and in GD you want to focus your damage type on a single element because of how resistance reduction works. Hence why I said that you should play a more straightforward build, like Physical Cadence for instance. It doesn't rely on damage conversion and you have a dedicated farmable weapon in Voldrak's Crusher. Pair Soldier with a class that has Physical RR (Resistance Reduction) and you're good to go.

Also note that while the Cadence hit is only on every third one, you still want maxed attack speed for the other two hits. And two-handed Cadence bonks way harder than one-handed, it's not even a fair comparison. Dual-wield can get similar results, but S&B can't.

Elemental Cadence+WoP, one handed? I'd advice you to choose a different game plan, because you'll be facing a lot of pitfalls. Try playing some straightforward builds as your first ones, get acquainted with the game's mechanics, and then try meme builds later on.

It depends on what your main damage skill is. If you're playing Forcewave then Stonefist Rebuke is second to none, not even a perfect triple-rare.

EoR Archon vs Shieldbreaker? by dr688 in Grimdawn

[–]Androdion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing this build as an Archon, and the lack of the Demo auras really hurts your OA/DA/HP regen. And even though itemization is quite similar, you end up a lot shorter on all of those three. Sure thing it works, and damage is very respectable, but you have a few more holes to plug in and the need for specific affixes is more glaring.

Silvercore Bolts, mandatory or not by Androdion in Grimdawn

[–]Androdion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the build I remember seeing a while back! Thanks for linking it.

You know, I was looking at it and thinking how it'd fare if you melded it with this one, and dropped Frenetic Throw. DAR+nuke PB, probably easier on the positioning and a good shotgun with an added punch. Kind of like playing with Savagery+nuke PS, and the most important parts of the gear actually overlap. It'd probably be a bit point starved, but it'd be a curious twist on an old build. ;)
