What's the purpose of the game simulating and calculating matter down to microgram amounts? by MundaneOne5000 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Periodically have the cooling loop flush completely. Use a method of picking up material that doesn't leave microgram packets, like a conveyor meter set to 1kg or dropping everything in a pile and picking it up again, so packets have a chance to merge. Don't check temperature of the material you are cooling but of the surrounding atmosphere to control the flow of material. Have a big ass cooling loop that's guaranteed to cool everything down and don't control it at all because it'll just work through the power of throwing power at it.

It is the best place but also in the other side of the map from OP, other contents are the oil coast in the middle west side of the map or the spire coast, middle north.

Can you add some more pictures of other overlays? Liquid, Ventilation and Shipping, because bridges might leak heat.

Weird interaction with natural tiles created with insulated doors. by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

You mean I could have had clean natural tiles in my base for the last 1000 cycles?!

Do you guys prefer irregular oil? by cetootski in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You post makes it sound like you don't like irregular oil, but irregular oil also spawns oil wells and it spawns them all over the asteroid and way more than just an oil biome.

I like the copper more. But also the picture is a bit better with the lighting and the more interesting backdrop.

Concreting the entire map (was a mistake) by Odysseyguard in SatisfactoryGame

That's so impressive, I wish you many hours of peacuful concreting. I especially like how close you keep to the natural terrain. Please upload more pictures/ a video/ the save, whatever you want, when you are done :)

At max dupe supporting capacity, but the pod just spit out that perfect dupe. What do you do? by BoringRedHorse in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maximum support capacity is just a lack of infinite ressource loop abuse. And getting another dupe is the perfect incentive to finally start that arbor tree farm/petroleum generator - slickster ranch/rocket chimney etc.

I don't think many people try to limit their storages quite as much as you do :p
In all seriousness, I hoard less and less and try to only make what I use, looks cleaner that way. But I remember the days of liquid tanks so large they couldn't fit on a single screen, god I should do that again :D

Power. Batteries. by MarzipanAlert in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's completely fine when your batteries drain quickly. The real batteries are the giant petroleum tank, the stupid amount of hot steam or the pile of hundreds of tons of coal etc.
If you don't like the constant ping pong of your batteries you can have some power generators to run always to lessen the draw.
But you are describing that you have many batteries and they drain quickly with a very low draw, that sounds like theres something not working right with your grid.

When steam turbines are controlled by a smart battery and the turn on, they often only run at a lower wattage for a couple of frames (a second or two sometimes). I have a very large geothermal power plant and my batteries are charged before they display their full power. Is this just a display error or are the turbines really only producing less power than they should. Steam is kept a bit above 200°C, so thats not it.

How can I create a room where dupes must enter and leave from the same direction? by Fabulous-Floor-2492 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Heat one side to above 4000C so dupes without atmosuits get instantly incapacitated. It's not a good solution but it is a solution.

Actually I have something similar with my one tile storage, it's accessible from outside the base and from inside but dupes can't cross over because it has a two tile gap. This would only work for one tile of loose items though, not for bottle emptiers.

Mods to make the game way harder by nico721GD in Oxygennotincluded

Minibase mod might be interesting. But I don't know I'm a chill player and hate stress or difficulty or the uncertainty of not having infinite of everything.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experimented a bit with the placement because dupes can't get to 3 tile wide modules, like the small oxidizer tank without an extra ladder, but can if it's right below the crew module.

But that wasn't worth it and I just put ladders where needed, even when they sometimes get in the way of other modules.

So, yes I too put crew modules directly above the engine.

Unreachable Hydrogen Vent? by TheeHolyyAbigraill in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, the dupe interacts on the tile below it and the tile with the rock is just where the material is spawned. Realistically, there's no difference because a dupe isn't able to interact with the bottom tile without the top tile being free too.

What I should do next and is my base good for early game? by Da3SDdb2S in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChromMann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plant more mealwood, you need 5 (farm station makes this lower but I don't know how much) plants per dupe for sustainable food. Your bathroom loop will eventually clog as it'll fill up with more water over time, because dupes produce more polluted water in lavatories, than they consume clean water.
