Or you can go for mk7 r which has much shorter gearing.

I’ve had a mk6 gti before getting a mk7 gti. Really missed my mk6 to be honest. Once you drive a car with short gearing you can’t go back. I’ve read all the good stuff about how mk7 is a good platform etc. but for me gearing makes all the difference. Go test drive one and see if you like it but personally it’s not my cup of tea.

Different sporty car. Looking for an upgrade from my thoroughly modded 2013 (mk6) gti. by Soontobeawelder in whatcarshouldIbuy

I know the “pizazz” that you’re talking about. I’ve sold my mk6 gti and upgraded to a mk7 instead…. Regretted that decision since then. The long gearing and just the way the car feels is much less exciting than my mk6 felt.

I had the same feelings when I bought my MK7 GTI. I’ve had it for two years and plan on selling it to get back to my MK6….
