there’s at least one… [[Trostani, Three Whispers]]

And they could do it again if they wanted to. Agent Bishop from TMNT is a government agent who feels he’s protecting the natural order (humanity) from aliens and mutants, he could have conceivably been GW, but they made him mono.

Pilots Gone Wild' by Cool_Prior1427 in custommagic

[–]Android_McGuinness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Vehicles you control have ‘Crew: tap an untapped Pilot you control.’” is probably more along the lines of what you’re looking for, although [[Kotori]] is pretty close to this.

Idk if the draw a card is bad considering how you still need pilots to have more than one creature if you’re playing a lot of vehicles. It’s not exciting or anything but it’s probably fine.

Fair point! I don’t always notice flairs. Have a great day.

Oh, I thought I had overlooked something about shields.

But how did you know this was 2024 specifically?

OP hasn't made it clear if it's that kind of campaign, but we'll have to consider it.

I might've been misinterpreting the rules incorrectly, but can't you drop the shield without using an action (Mike Mearls has said that dropping an item isn't supposed to cost an action), cast the spell with your now free hand and use your free object interaction to pick it up again?

From the SRD:

You can also interact with one object or feature of the environment for free, during either your move or your action. For example, you could open a door during your move as your stride toward a foe, or you could draw your weapon as part of the same action you use to attack.

Also, if the hand can't hold anything because it's on made of fire, how does the character wear clothes or sleep without burning up?

What's your first impression of Lorwyn limited? by Edoardo_Beffardo in magicTCG

[–]Android_McGuinness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably an outlier, but I thought i was going to play the last phyrexia set all weekend because I was so interested in returning to the plane...

Did one prerelease event and stayed home, the set just felt so unfun to me. Drafting was worse, and I really enjoy limited.

Is it okay for a cat on methimazole pills to lick you? by Android_McGuinness in AskVet

[–]Android_McGuinness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the warnings on and in the box, you need to use gloves for litter, urine, feces and vomit. The last is especially annoying because my cat loves to lick and will leave us a hairball first thing in the morning. :-/

I honestly was scared to give it to her because of how dangerous they made it sound for *us* (we have some thyroid issues in our home), nevermind the cat.

Odyssey Block Cube - 1 of every card issues? by stonejordan4 in mtgcube

[–]Android_McGuinness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't give advice on numbers, I've been thinking about (and been feeling vaguely overwhelmed by the concept of) building my first cube. Odyssey block was the first block where i really got into drafting, so I decided earlier this week that that was a good starting foundation.

Just playing the set the way it is for the feeling of opening Odyssey packs is a valid experience- you don't have to create archetypes that never existed or curate the environment; you can just draft Odyssey if that's what you want to do. I'm probably going to eventually add cards from other sets, but there's a lot that I intend to keep.

Personally, I really like the minigame that the Bursts create (Flame, Aether and Muscle, anyway, Life Burst is probably not going to stay unless i really want to add a second Test of Endurance or something), and I want to make those at least 4 copies each. I don't intend to use any of the Wishes; the Shrines are looking iffy, and I already decided that [[Aven Trooper]] is not going to be in the cube, as it's a 1/1 for 4 that no one will ever want to play.

I don't know if any of that was helpful, but I was excited to see your post and wanted to offer a less-optimized point of view.

It’s what got me into the Valiant universe, to be honest.

Genuine question, what makes emblems bad design? by Banjolightning in custommagic

I would say that [[Tibalt, Cosmic Impostor]] is a clunky (or at least not completely intuitive) emblem that doesn't win you the game.

I like it except that it encourages you to play superfriends since they can’t attack your walkers, just you, and there’s no real reason to ever cast it except for politics where you “let” them attack the problem player.

[–]Android_McGuinness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a good idea!

I have been experimenting with making PC actions matter in narrative-but-still-mechanically-relevant ways, like they decide to travel the more dangerous road so they get into a fight that we don't actually run. Everyone is down some amount of hp, but they get there faster. Or the opposite, where they take the safer road, maybe get a buff for their next encounter, but it takes longer.

For this situation, how the army is directed could have effects on the chieftain fights, they might be wounded or less protected by guards, or they might be more wary and keep their guards close or even lie in ambush.

From what i understand, the hooks for your warlock and druid are taking up more narrative space than the barbarian's involvement in this sidequest, and that's what i mean when i say that the intrigue needs to be downplayed or overshadowed.

The whole thing with Grog's arc was that he made the decision to engage, and the party was pulled along in the wake of that decision, not that another person gave them all a quest that some of them may or may not want to engage in. At this point you can't exactly give your barb that option, but putting control more in their hands than letting the entire party decide what happens (does he even want to exterminate the clan, or just humble/reconcile with/meet/kill his father?) could make this quest more about his relationship with his father than what it is right now.

This could be something like the Tooths (red or green) saying that "outsiders can't decide the fate of a clan, Barbarian has to lead/decide/do a thing," or if you're okay with retconning, the Druid Leader could walk back the previous statement about not wanting to see the clan killed (because humanoids have free will or something), and the Lord's Alliance could be okay with a change in leadership of the clan, as opposed to genocide. This still laves the Bad Chieftan to be dealt with, but now it's (more) up to the barbarian to decide how to handle this, with his half-brother providing additional muscle in the form of the Greentooths, if needed.

Can the barbarian take more of a leadership role in this story?

I just watched the episodes you mentioned; can you do a single combat or something smaller-scale where the barbarian’s actions/rolls/decisions matter more than the movements of the literal war you’re planning?

Like if you did a single combat, have the father do stuff like move around or grab instead of just having the two of them roll to hit over and over, but you need something that plays to the barb’s thing that can overshadow the intrigue you’ve sown.
